Now that I've vented about Rapoport, I just want to
say that Ken has an appointment with Dr. Alain de
Labotiniere at Yale-New Haven Hospital tomorrow
to find out about gamma knife surgery. I know it has
been used successfully for trigeminal neuralgia and is
now being tried for cluster headaches. Not many
people have undergone the procedure for clusters,
but I think it is well worth looking into for Ken. It
pinpoints very specific nerves and does not cause
numbness on the entire side of the face. It is also a
very non-invasive procedure and the patient can be
in and out in one day. I don't know how the HMO's
feel about it . We have Anthem BC/BS so we are
fairly lucky when it comes to their covering cost, but
we will have to see. I will keep you informed.
