First of all, the 180 mg sounds to me like the SR version (extended release). This is what I took also. My doc as yours did prescribed 180 mg 1 time per day, I found that it worked, but would only last around 12 hours. I started taking two a day, 1 at 6:00 am and the other at 6:00 pm. These seemed to work very well for me. I was also fearful of the headaches being extended due to the Verapmil. I took 2 per day for two weeks, then went to 1 per day for another week, and finished with 1/2 per day for the last week. I of course waited until I felt I was out of my cycle before tapering down to 1 per day. So far so good, almost 2 weeks with no meds and no headaches. I have tried many of the drugs listed on this site, and am a believer in Verapmil and O2 as a very good treatment. I think the feeling that the Verapmil was extending the headaches was simply me own fears, probably because this is the first bout that I have used Verapmil.
