I know exactly what you mean. I have sometimes felt that a preventative medicine only delays the inevitable and that the beast must do its thing before it can go into remission.
I have learned though that this is not true for me - any preventative that worked, really worked in that I still got my normal remission period. I would take the preventative ( in my case Verapamil ) for my expected cycle plus a week or two for insurance and then stop taking it.
