Without knowing a whole lot more about the frequency, duration, and symptoms of his headaches, I wouldn't want to hazard a diagnosis.

But...

If the ONLY time he's had these headaches in the last eight years is just before giving birth to a sliver, and if the headaches go away as soon as the sliver pops out, then I can certainly understand why you have doubts that cluster headaches are the culprit. It sure doesn't fit the standard cluster profile.

On the other hand, there have been several posts on this board from people who developed clusters after undergoing some kind of head or neck trauma, so who knows?

Interesting trigger mechanism. (just joking)
