I found the nasal sprays to be worthless. Did absolutely nothing for me. You say you toughed it out till nasal spray kicked in? For me it never kicked in. I would get the "sluggish" sort of feeling associated with Imitrex, but no pain relief. And I tried more than once, believe me. Also, it is difficult to use a nasal spray when one of the symptoms of the attack is nasal congestion.
Injections on the other hand, ALWAYS work for me. Take a shot, have a seat, pain begins to subside almost instantly. Within 5-7 mins, it is simply gone. Only thing left behind is that dizzy feeling(which is almost pleasant), and that lasts about 15 mins or so. Also as a general rule, injections will always work faster than a nasal spray, no matter what it is. After all, it goes almost directly into your bloodstream(intra-muscular in the case of Imitrex).
