It is similar to an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). Flash is right, it does cause a sudden release of 5HT, tehreby depleting the supply in the brain. In larger doses it destroys 5HT neurons.
I personally wouldn't recommend it as a CH treatment.
