My husband, Lee, has been getting his worst headaches about 1-2 hours after falling asleep. For the past few nights, he does seem to be catching them early enough so the oxygen, imitrex, and compazine combination seems to be lessening the extremes. Also, he's been increasing his verapamil. Previously, when he woke with a headache, it was already full blown and nothing seemed to work well. Have you tried oxygen?
