Boy do you guys have me second guessing myself. I need advise. I read your insight on your husband Mike's CH's. I have been to numerous neurologists. I contantly have headaches. Was told I suffer from a combination of migraines, tension and cluster headaches and that is why I get them so frequently. The tension are easy to distinguish from the other types. Migraines cause nausau and visual problems. My description of the cluster headaches are the ones that last for weeks at a time. They come and go thoughout the day and night. I originally would take migraine medication (midrin) and would just think it finally kicked in after an hour or so. I realize now that was probably the end of the cluster. Then the headache would reappear in a few hours which lead me to believe the migraine medication was wearing off. I would take more medication and so on. The clusters wake me up screaming begging my husband to take me to the emergency room because this one is the one that is finally going to have me pop something. The left eye always the left eye is getting stabbed with the icepick. At the onset of a cluster it feels as if someone is sticking a wire up one nostril and twisting it. Then starts the cracking (neurologist never heard of this) I feel cracking at the top of my nose in between both eyes. Then the pain, the other day I felt it coming on in the mall. I had pills on me but couldn't get to water fast enough. Not that they helped when I did take them. Zomig, it is fairly new and used in place of imitrex. Nothing is really helping now. I was a passenger in my friends car the other day when one hit. I ended up on the floor squeezing my head between my two hands looking for some relief. She thinks I'm losing it. Sometimes I think I am too. I have a follow up appointment with my latest neuro on Monday. I'm trying to get some ideas together before then. I'm sick of living on pain-killers that don't work. I've already been through the MRI's Cats and EEG. They show nothing. By the way the clusters first appeared 12 years ago at age 28. I have suffered from migraines since a child. Any connection that you know of? Also cannot drink red wine. Immediate headache along with bright red cheeks and hot flashes. I'm a real mess.
