You say that he's been on verapamil etc. but I was wondering if he's been on verapamil and lithium together? If not then try that immediately. Don't forget that the lithium can take up to 2 weeks to take effect. To get him some relief for 2 weeks ask for dexamethasone...a very powerful steroid which should stop the headaches almost immediately. The dexamethasone is meant to provide short term relief.
