Don,
I wouldn't start to panic yet (not that you have), not for a while. I was episodic for years, then two years ago the headaches came and stayed for over a year, every day and night.
For one thing, I think I started drinking (moderately) too soon after my initial cycle ended, and I'm also convinced that my neurologist started loading me up on too many medications, prednisone to be specific, so the headaches really became entrenched. Such is my lame-brained theory, anyway.
With all due respect, if you're drinking alcohol, stop -- that's for openers. In my case, during the final two months of my last episode, I was taking only verapamil and oxygen; the headaches gradually lessened, and I've ben pain free for 18 months (until three days ago, when I started getting twinges, a sure harbinger of things to come.)
So hang in there, and take care of yourself. I was indeed convinced I had become chronic, and I know how you feel. Chronic sufferers are truly heroic in my book!
Ken
