Wife and Dr. trying to help, but Narcs????

Hi: Wife, the kick-butt nursing student (another term as a 4.0 student), took it on her own and got our Dr. to prescribe something to help me sleep (hoping that they would prescribe something so as to by-pass REM, which over and over again is when I get the opprotunty to get hit in the eye with a sledge hammer and have someone pour battery acid on my right hemisphere (also caled a CH)). Oddly, the script is for Hydrocodone. Wait a minute, seritonin issues (maybe) and mix Hydrocodone...I think its a recepie for diaster. Wife is concerned that since I'm avoiding any restful sleep for days (weeks really) on end, that I'm just making myself more sick, on top of the CHs. So, narcs for periodic sleep catch-up or, as I suspect, no way? Thanks.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Narcs are virtually useless for CH. They may cause serious rebounds along with the obvious dangers of using them. In past years I used narcs and have had them trigger the worst attacks of my CH career. My vote. NO WAY. Try OTC melatonin for sleep.

Thanks. That makes three of us, so works for me (narcs bad idea). Wife picked up Meletonin for for me as well. I'm actually looking forward to taking 9mg in a couple of hours. First time on Depekote (week and 1 1/2) and that is working about as well as wishing the CHs would stop. Can't wait until my Neuro gets back from vacation on Monday. Thanks again.

Melatonin definitely! Narcs were useless against the beast for me and caused severe rebound. Now that I'm using kudzu and no narcs life is much much better. PFD&N's to you. Congrats to your wife on the 4.0. Joe

Melatonin and 02 at bedtime.Works like a friggin' miracle!Hydrocodone is mostly codeine with some Acetaminophen. The codine may put you to sleep for a short while but will act as a speed and not let you have a restful night.PF days and nights.David Oh,by the way do you know why they put the Tylenol in the Hydrocodone?Because the codeine will give you a headache.

Toolong . "headache" from opioids? YEP! That and of course Tylenol to reduce fever too iffin ya got 1. Best use I've found for opioids is to stop coughing. Of course we're designed to cough for certain reasons and after being addicted to morphine and methadone for the last 14 years,(recently withdrew) I may have missed alot of necessary ones because I seem to be catching up and I am a non-smoker.

For sure the Melatonin has been a God-send for alot of us here. You can't beat the price! It's cheap compared to Rx meds. Good luck to 'ya. PF vibes, Jean
