Question from ClusterChuck...
« on: Feb 21st, 2004, 7:49pm »

Chuck just called me..asked me to post this or remind him to post it....he has been talking to Mikey in the hosp..and they are quite interested in a procedure they heard about a month or so ago..perhaps Tara Ann's Occipital Nerve Stimulation??
At any rate, It might be helpful to revisit all these different procedures, perhaps shed some light for these boys.
Chuck was ramping up when he called..so I hope I am posting precisely what he wants..he mentioned probes up to the Hypothalamus.......what were the results?
Unsolved?? Tara Ann??
can you please begin a discussion on this subject??
PF...

Hey, I posted something fairly recently on this too.  Maybe around mid February....it was a group of Italian doctors so likely was the study referenced by Billy J.  However some other folks thought that 3 of the 10 patients died....or something like that.  But not sure that was the same study.  Look for my post under Medication/Treatments for around Feb. 18-22.

They will do the "Occipital Nerve Stimulation Implant" in the US, but as far as the 'deep brain hypothalmus stimulation" device...it's only being done in Italy (according to Dr. Rozen from MHNI). He also says it's being done with great success and should be available in the states in a year or two. (He even said I was a candidate). He said NO ONE has died. (He laughed when I mentioned that). Doctors from Cleveland are the docs that taught the Italians (again, according to Dr. Rozen)
I'll be having the ONSI THIS MONDAY MORNING at MHNI. I'll post about it later on next week. Wish me luck.
