honestly, after crawling in a hole for five years, because i had no-one to talk to about it. yes it was! it taught me it was not going to control my life anymore. i was'nt about drinking, but rather crawling out of that hole.

I personally would not suggest knowingly indulging in a trigger just to prove you can take it. Kinda like jumping off a building to prove you're not afraid of heights. Undecided

Not something I'd do.  I use the "night out drinking" as a definitive litmus test after I figure my cycle's over.  After 3 cocktails and no hit I declare myself CH free.  Then I proceed to make good-and-damned-sure I wake up with a HA just to see what a regular HA feels like.  Wink

I'm lucky.  My cycles have been getting further and further apart and somehow I don't think I am seeing quite the level of pain I used to get 20+ years ago.  DOn't know if I can just tolerate it better knowing it'll go away. more neurons are toasted or the meds really are as good as I think they are.  A walk in the park (barefoot over broken shards of glass) for me these days in comparison.

Interesting.  I did the same thing the other night.  Company holiday party.  I just said what the hell, if I get a big hit after a few drinks at least everyone will be able to see I'm not making this stuff up when they see me rocking back and forth grabbing my head.
As it turns out, a few glasses of wine and a few scotches later, I was rocking alright, but on the dance floor.  I can't dance worth a diddly, but it must have been fun to see.  I did get a headache that night but is was your standard booze headache.
The most interesting thing is that I went the following two full days without a CH.  I thought maybe I was out of the cycle but I've had a couple hits yesterday and today.

If you drink knowing the price you will pay for it, perhaps CH isn't the only problem you have. Undecided

Did it really help you for a moment? I had 2 shots of morphine/phenergan on my last ER visit and it didn't even touch the hits. (I was getting hit every 30 minutes) I didn't even feel drugged out like I should've been. I was really disappointed. I figured it might at least knock me out.  Undecided

Dealing is disciplining yourself to accept the condition as part of your life and to do nothing that further causes harm. Drinking knowing your going to get hit is FAR from dealing with CH.

Religion and sex are powerplays. Manipulate the people for the money they pay. Selling skin, selling God, the numbers look the same on their credit cards. Triptans cause rebounds. Learn it, believe it, live it. I use triptans as the absolute LAST RESORT when treating my CH.

Wow This guy is either the bravest or craziest person I heard of. This type of thinking is not uncommon in those gravely ill. I work in a hospital and see lung cancer patients smoking all the time stuff like that. Kind of the hell with it attitude. This behavior is more common in men than women. It would make an interesting study. Kind of like the child who touched the hot stove and got burned and then gingerly reaches his finger to try it again soon after.  Roll Eyes
