Hi! My name is Bridgett, I'm 26 years old and have been suffering from clusterheadaches since I was 16.

I found this site about a month ago and I've lurked around ever since.

I look forward to getting to know you all better, I just wish it was under better circumstances. Smiley

I'll second that Bridgett!  I wish we all had met on a beach somewhere.  However that was not to be.  Tell us some about yourself.  What have you tried, what has worked and what hasn't?  Welcome to your new home!

What Dennis said, except for the beach part.  Any good pubs around your way?

Thanks so much everyone!

A little more about myself....hmm. I live in a small town with my great husband and 2 small boys (3 & almost 2). I work as a fingerprint specialist (hence the name printspec).

I've never been put on any real sort of meds for the headaches, other than by my family doc who I just saw again in Aug. He put me on Fioricet, though he told me it probably wouldn't do much, if anything. He mentioned Imitrex, Maxalt, & Topamax but said that the neuro would probably put me on one of them and he didn't want to start me on something and have the neuro change it a month later.

The Fioricet does absolutely nothing for me.

As for pubs, there are probably some bars in another town since mine's too small to have anything, but I don't drink so I'm not sure. Smiley

Welcome to the board bridgett, I'm an LE so I worship the ground you finger print specs walk on. Was in court all day yesterday on a cold case hit your type came up with!!

Because of my job there are many meds and treatment options simply not available to me. I've had great luck using lithium as my prevent, with oxygen as my primary abort and imitrex injectables as a back up. County doc's signed off on all of that with no conditions on my carrying a weapon so I'm sure your folks would be okay with it.

And as your kids get older, I'd suggest not trying to hide it from them but rather let them help with treatment. My kids could rig a regulator, and then knew to leave daddy alone for a while. They're grown now and knew early on something was amiss with daddy's head. I think it's best to let them be part of the treatment so it doesn't scare them as much.

Good luck and welcome again!!!
