Are all CH headaches the worst pain ever, or are there some that arent as intense?

Is it true that the longer you have CH, the more intense the pain is?

Thank YOu

See "the kip scale" at the left side of your screen for a pretty-well-agreed-upon description of the different levels of a CH hit.  Best descriptor we've found yet.

I don't think that the longer a person has CH, the worse it gets.  I've had episodic CH for forty years--the pain level has not diminished, but the cycles are getting farther and farther apart.  I will say that I think that people who've had it a long time learn to cope with it a bit better.  Not that you get used to it, but an attack no longer causes panic--you know what's going to happen.

Best wishes,

George

Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.

What George said:  It's the Kip scale that is descriptive, and they are (Thank God) NOT all Kip 10's.

I can (barely) function at work through a Kip 7, but it is very taxing to do so.  The longer I have CH, they are not getting more painful, but it is not any easier to accomodate the pain either.

The only pain I have experienced that is close is passing a kidney stone.  I have broken bones and had CH at the same time, and took care of the CH before noticing the pain of the broken bones...

I don't notice that the pain increases with time.  Though cycles vary quite a bit.  The last cycle I had had fewer hits with higher average pain levels.  This cycles has had more hits but few in the Kip 8/9 area and no Kip 10s.

Treatments also seem to affect the pattern and intensity of attacks.  Since I'm using Melatonin this cycle I've had very few night hits.  These were also the most intense.  But I've had more day time hits than any cycle ever.
