dr prescribed depakoteER 500 mg, and Imitrex tablets.

Also, gave me referral for the neuro.

everything I have read thus far about depakote has me scared. Will I be able to take this and work? My job requires me to be able to use my brain at a functional level. if this makes me doped up or anything like doped, I will not be able to take it. I would also like to keep my liver around in case I need it one day.

He wouldnt let me see the report from my catscan...he read part of it, mumblebumble...left side this and left side that. When I asked to see it, he said "lets leave well enough alone- there is no hemmorhaging, its fine."
So, when I go to the neuro I will ask for a copy of it. It is my brain, after all.

You gotta learn to be more ASSERTATIVE!!! You're paying for the scan and the REPORT - you gotta right to KNOW what it SAYS and have the jerk explain it to you. But these gods think they know something you don't (who knows he might not have understood what he was reading). I'm a bitch when it comes to 'plaining things to me. It's my dime - I'm gonna get my money's worth - is there any part of that you don't understand bud? And THEN if they don't give me my money's worth I DECIDE what I think their SERVICE was worth and that's what I pay. Gets their attention (I'm usually very vocal about it!).

At least you got a referral to a neuro. Now go in to him/her armed for bear. Ask questions and GET answers. If he/she doesn't know anything ASK for a referral to someone who does. sometimes the first neuro isn't the last one.

But find another doc if you can't get the present one on YOUR wavelength..

Good Luck and lots of hugs

I'm lucky, my doc is pretty cool. Two years ago I brought him info from this site, he called a neuro, and started me on dexa, verapamil, and imitrex inhalers. I was kinda freakin' so I made an appointment with a neuro in this area. I think I found him on the "oche" site. Anyway, by time I got to see him I had finished cycle. He approved treatment my doc had given me, than ordered tests, more tests.

Anyway, I know my doc is limited in is knowledge, and he doesn't mind telling me. I hope  I don't have to go any fruther this time.

  good Luck

I'm sure you have this, but if you don't bring it to the neuro. It has all info on all the meds:

Also, DEMAND oxygen!

PF wishes.
