NASAL PAIN

After 5-6 years of being pain free, I got hit last fall. Instead of my usual 4-6 week bout, this one lasted 10 weeks. And it was the worst cycle in 20+ years of having these damn things.

Cycle ended in early Jan. No sooner than the ch left, I caught a bad cold. Needless to say, my sinuses were not feeling great.

Ever since, I have had a constant pain in the right side of my nose. It extends down under the right eye and up to my tmple. It's not severe but certainly annoying. OTC painkillers work for temporary relief.

Ear/Nose/Throat doc says it's not an infection. He took a CAT scan that indicates that all is normal in my sinus cavities.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, I'd like to know  how to treat.

During my cycle I used Cafergot and O2. Next time I'll add Verapmil to the mix. Incidentally, my local drug store still has a small supply of Cafergot. And I'm stocking up.

Thanks for any help/advice you can give.

I am sorry Peteh, I cannot help you. During unmedicated attacks the beast chose to hurt me in the nasal area as well, but after attacks the pain was gone.

There is one thing: Have you tried asking your doc for lidocaine? It is also used in treatment of clusters by some docs, and it certainly will numb your nose if you spray it up the affected nostril. It supposedly is not harmful.

If your sinuses are still clogged as well, try this simple home remedy. Mix half a teaspoon of salt with some luke warm water and either suff it up fromyour hollow hand, or get a dropper, lay all the way back and drop it in.

Good luck
