Some prayers/vibes needed (Update 6/7)
May 29th, 2008 at 8:02pm

Hi everyone,

In the last few days, I've gotten some very worrisome news about my mom and my best friend.  My mom went for a mammogram and ultrasound, and they found what is called a dirty cyst in her breast.  She is going to a breast surgeon next week to determine if she's going to need to have a biopsy or further testing to see if it is a cyst or something more ominous...

Then I found out today from my very best friend Lindsay that they found a tumor in her uterus.  She had had some pain on and off, and they did an ultrasound and found the tumor.  She's having another ultrasound soon to look into it further.

These two ladies mean so much to me that words cannot even relate!  If anyone has some vibes/prayers/good juju to spare for them, it would be much appreciated!  I'm praying hard for both of them that these things turn out to be benign growths...

Thanks so much!

Hugz,
Carrie

Thanks all,

I really do appreciate you keeping them in your prayers/vibes.  Based on the initial presenting symptoms for both of them, I'm hoping that all of this is just fine, but it's still hard not to worry.  I'll post updates as the tests for both of them start coming back or they start figuring out the action plans...  Crazy this is happening to both of them at the same time...

Hugz,
Carrie

Carrie,

prayers are on their way for your mother and your best friend! Smiley

I understand very well that you worry about both of them. But I do hope that it will turn out that there's nothing to worry about in the end.

Hugs,
Sanna

Carrie,
I'm going to remind you-in the gentlest, kindest way....cancer is no longer the death sentence it was..............Aside from the fact that a DX is still on it's way for both these women you love.
I think a lot of the battle is attitide........and we all need some of that!
Please remember, my mother survived breast cancer 23 years ago!!

I know you need to worry, Carrie. I understand that, but prepare for the worst, but expect the best outcome-for BOTH of them........
Oh, and here'sa big hug for you, use it when things get scary..
and PLEASE keep us posted.......vibes and such going out.......

Carrie,

Prayers, vibes, and anything else I can send.

I can certainly identify as I have dealt with both of these types of issues since the first of the year. I think that the hardest thing to deal with is the unknown. Minds tend to wander to the worst case scenario but I want you to know that "most' of the time these things end up being nothing to worry about and are easily taken care of.

The big thing is that they have you to be there for them and there is definately strength in love and friendship.

Again sending all that I have to the 3 of you.  Kiss

Aubmari

Thanks so much, all!

Cathi - I know you are right, and I've said the same thing to others regarding the fact that cancer can be beaten.  At my mom's school, there has really been a disproportionate amount of breast cancer cases, but I think most of them have gone on to beat it, which is good news.  I really think that, most likely, these growths are benign for both of them, but it is definitely hard not to worry about the unknown!  Thanks for your support. Smiley

Aubmari - You are so right that in most cases it turns out to be nothing.  That's what we're all thinking right now for both of them, but the not knowing is definitely the hardest part.  They both had some pain (even if the pain came and went), and pain is generally a good indication of some benign growth.  So hopefully both of them will turn out to be okay.  Are your issues resolved now or still ongoing?

Thanks everybody for all the prayers and vibes!  Hopefully next week we'll know a little bit more.  I can't remember when Lindsay's next ultrasound is, but my mom's doc appt is next week for sure.

Hugz,
Carrie Smiley

Well we got some news this week for both of them.

Lindsay had her next ultrasound on Monday, and they found a lot of various cysts that they feel are a normal part of the menstrual cycle.  So nothing bad - she just has to have more internal ultrasounds at routine times to get checked.

My mom and I went together to the breast surgeon earlier this week.  At first, the surgeon felt it was probably a cyst, but she attempted to aspirate it in the office, and got nothing, so that means that it is a solid lump.  She feels the best way to handle a solid lump is to remove it, so my mom's having an excisional biopsy tomorrow (Friday), where they'll take it out completely and then do a biopsy to determine what it is.  The doctor doesn't think it's cancer, but she said she wants to know it's not cancer, not just think it's not cancer.

So I'm taking my mom tomorrow for the procedure because my dad has to be up in Syracuse moving my grandma into assisted living, and it can't be rearranged for a variety of reasons.

Thanks for all the  vibes and prayers - if you all could say some extra ones for my mom tomorrow, that would be great!

Hugz,
Carrie
