Sort of a fitting treatment
Jun 23rd, 2008 at 5:40pm

Hello all,

I was on here before, but left for a while.  Well, now, I'm back.  It's been some time, and I still suffer from the devil.

I find it amusing that those who suffer migraines think they know our pain.  It's not quite the same, is it?  I tell them to concentrate the pain of a migraine on a single point anywhere on their head, and then amplify that pain, multiply that point, and add up to three or four weeks onto that pain.

Still, I have found some relief.  My doctor put me on, believe it or not, an anti-psychotic called Amitryptaline.  It doesn't eliminate the headaches, but it does take the edge off quite a bit.  Grin Makes it so that I can actually still live a good life with my wife.

A month of torture, two months of relief, and a way to cut the torture down.

Tricyclics help some people - not usually considered the thing that should be tried first, but if it works for you, great.

This group of meds is usually described as anti-depressants, sometimes as anti-psychotics, other times as pain modifiers ... but what is in a name?  They are giving little kids viagra to treat pulmonary hypertension - if it works, it works.

The outer boundary of what we currently believe is feasible is far short of what we actually must do.
