New (?) treatment for migraine headaches.
Jun 27th, 2008 at 3:02pm

This may be of some interest for some of us...

This is a magnetic treatment to abort migraines before they get full blown being developed at Ohio State University.

I only have a link to a local news website, so the information is somewhat limited.

Here's the link

That's old bullshit news. Some years ago we even had a huckster here who gave his magnets a special triangular shape to exploit the Hall-effect.

I bet you get to wear a really cool headband thingie when you get this treatment at OSU....

Really, I'm just passing this on -- not a clue if it works.

I believe that the theory is that it prevents cortical spreading depression in migraine.  Some initial studies have been positive.

I know it was trialed at my headache center, and my neuro told me that they were also interested in looking to see if it might be of some benefit to aborting a CH attack.  Not sure that it ever went any farther than that, though.

Take care,
