Anyone want a 6 year old......
Aug 1st, 2008 at 3:00pm

I've had my little Caleb for the past two weeks and today he is being a real little MONSTER! Nothing is suiting him and he's not being Granny's little darling at all. Right now he's in the "Mind Changing Room" and may be there for the rest of the day. Granny has HAD IT!!!!

It's way too hot to go outside right now (we have to stay in till about 4 or so or have a heat stroke) and he's NOT an inside child! I've come up with about all the "projects" I can think of and NOTHING is what HE wants to do today. The dogs can't even stand him right now.

Guess we all have OFF days, but I think he's rolling a week into one day!

Oh well, this too shall pass -- (she says with a sigh.... Roll Eyes )  Hope ya'll's day is going better...

Hugs BD

Barb, My son, Todd was the world's answer to the energy crisis! On rainy days(we lived in CA back then, where NOONE goes out in the rain).....Todd cwould make me absolutely bugnutz! I finally learned on a day like that, I would challenge him to something ridiculous, and potentially exhausting, like jumping for 20 mis straight, or, one year, I got him a pogo stick, sent him to the empty garage and encouraged him to pogo as long as he could...........
Perhaps this might help..........if not, just bear in mind how much you love the OTHER Caleb.........
Hang tight, Gran!

I can CURE your 17 year old problem. Yauca (sp) (cactus) bushes under the window... They have razor spikes and no kid (with or without a brain) would DARE climb out of a window with those planted underneath.. And they're great for security in the home (no theif would dare try to come IN). They stay green year round and grow anywhere. Beats bars and worked wonders for my kid when he was 17.  Smiley

Oh and if you want to add insult to injury - Let HIM plant them... (come on - parents have to have SOME fun...)

Take the cell phone away! The yucca is a good idea but you can through a thick blanket over it and render it tame. They can’t line up the late night rendezvous without conspiring to the meeting in the first place. I have a camera on the garage looking at the house and a DVR so I can play back the footage for the guilty one to see. No denial after that!

Now back to the 6 year old. I have a 5 year old daughter I would be happy to pawn off on an unsuspecting grandparent if I could just find one that isn’t familiar with her horrible behavior. Duct tape anyone?

Cell phone is in my pocket.
Computer account is locked out.
Yucca is an interesting idea but she snuck out through the slider in the addition.  No one in there since my MIL passed on.
I'll be rigging some contact sensors on the doors this week.

All trust is gone at this point which just kills me.  What do you do with a kid that lies as easily as she breaths?  I guess just verify and make her as misserable as I am.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Barb.

Ok, Dennis.... only one thing left -- send 'er to the farm for some "basic training" -- I'm so far out in the boonies -- there's NO place to SNEAK out to... and I do know how to work a kid (always missed my calling according to my late husband, as a drill sargeant!).

As Loretta Lynn sang, "We'd sleep at night cause we was tired!" Got a spare room and the welcome mat's out... Give me six weeks and you'll have a new kid (who'll be beggin' to come back to Daddy!).

Wanna hear somethin' real funny..... Caleb's Dad arrived this morning and is making sounds of taking him back to Shreveport. Caleb is all over me telling me he "doesn't want to leave the farm cause he loves me and the farm and Daddy is being mean to take him away!" Think a few hours in the "mind changing room" got my little angel back. And besides he likes Granny's cooking.  Smiley

Is this a pattern (the lying), or is it something that just cropped up?
