i am proud of my wife
Aug 16th, 2008 at 9:37pm

I am so proud and thankful that my wife is trying to reachout and get support and understanding of ch and what i deal with. she has posted a note under my name in supporters corner, however she now has her own id as she is registered here.
when she is talking about my pain med addiction. i was taking so many pains meds including stadol (synthetic morphine) that i did get dependant and was having alot of rebound type headaches. I would use way to much just to deal with the hits.
at first i would try dark glasses and covered window's but it never really helped much. i think i was trying to reduce the sensory overload and my left eye and left side would hurt beyond explanation. the er dr's were clueless and the nurses thought i was seaking drugs which lead my wife to doubt me. from then on there was separation between us. I finally got of the narcotics and started to learn about ch and how to deal with it.
its been 1 1/2 years with no narc's but i still would not tell her how bad it was , so i didn't talk about it because of judgment from my wife and medical professionals.
anyway please read my wifes  post as she is reaching out to really help me and to understand what i am dealing with.
I see this as a real breakthrough for us and I  am not   always able to verbalize what i need .
you all know me just a little and have helped me so much. I am seeing a specialist that was mentioned to me  in montana and that with my wife trying to understand and oxygen/imetrex injection i am doing well now. Just out of a cycle that lasted 6 weeks with my first k8.
Please my friends help my wife understand ch it would mean the world to me. maybe someday we could help others here on ch.com

God bless you all

Karl, I'm really proud of you finding your way through the narcotics.  While at first they can provide some much needed relief for some - when 02 doesn't work anymore and other forms of treatment haven't worked, for many they provide no relief, and they do nothing to stop the hits from coming.  It's then the battle of getting off and dealing with the rebounds.  I'm glad you made it through to the other side.

I'm also glad you two are back together and working things out.

Of course I'll read her thread.  I've been a supporter of a chronic clusterhead for 2 1/2 years.  It isn't a cake walk, and we need to be there for each other.

thank you and no the narcotics don't help but they were used out of desparation and false sence of security.
mostly i am hoping people will post on her thread because she is really trying.
she is a little disappointed no one has wrote on her thread  but brian did and she like what he said, but i am reassuring her that you all are here to help her in words that i can't explain well.
I have only made it because of prayer and the love of my life, my wife.
she is reading and learning but i think she is looking for encourgment and support for her. she puts with alot because of this ch and me.
I know people here will help her.

When it comes to the narcotics, trust me I know that desperation through Gary.  I've been beaten up here plenty for not leaving my husband because his neuro referred him to pain management when he couldn't help the clusters.  He'll find his way through it too.

first thanks to everyone for responding to my wifes honest effort to learn about what i am dealing with.
the only meds i use now are imitrex injections, gabapentin, oxygen 100% energy drinks. so if anyone here thinks my story is b.s. I will just pray for them.
I am not a junkie or any other name you want to call it.
yes in the first years of these damn attacks , more doctors than i can count and none of them new crap i used powerful painkillers and paid a dear price with my marriage and my job.
Now I am in  better place with 1 1/2 to 2 years  without narc's.
the one thing i hate and despise the most is judgement without knowledge. ( i think you all can relate).
SO I WILL NOT JUDGE LAURIE AND HER HUSBAND.
Brian you are awsome and your post have been very compassionate and my wife has been thankful for the post of support . we indeed are coming to together with a big help from this site.
my last cycle lasted a little over 6 weeks and then about 10 days pf and now they are back and building up, so i am glad my wife is reaching out now.
to wrap this up I will apolgize to my wife for you potter i    know you didn't mean our story was b.s.  but my wife isn't used to your abrupt way's and it almost spooked her with what appeared to be an argument.
love you all and i pray for pf times that we can really find joy in our lives.

Karl, thank you for your very kind comments.  Just to set the record straight though, he doesn't think your story is b.s., he thinks mine is.

I really regret having written anything about it - I hope it doesn't derail this thread further.

I just want to say again I'm really proud of you for having gone through that hell and come out the other side.  And you should be proud of your wife - she seems like a very wonderful woman.

I hope you both find lots of support and I'm sure you'll find lots of information and learn a lot from this site.

A warm welcome to you and your wife! My wife still posts on occasion in the suppprters section, she is qnhearts. She's the one that originally found this board for me and saved my sanity! You've come a long assed way down an ugly dark road, I tip my hat to you for having what it takes to pull it off. I'm in a line of work where I have to deal with those who can't do what you've managed, I have a very deep appreciation for what it took on your part, congrats in a big way dude! Wishing you a little pain free time in the near future, a big hug to your other half, supporters are gold!
