Happy New school year to everyone!
Aug 25th, 2008 at 11:04pm

I just finished my first day of my 29th year teaching. Boy time goes by fast. I've watched my own kids come and go through school. Lisa will begin her internship tomorrow. I've been involved with this group for just over a year and have seen numerous threads concerning everyones kids, good and bad. Like every topic here, we sure can debate education. However one thing we all have in common, and isn't debatable is the desire for our children and granchildren to do their very best in school. I just want to wish all of you and your kids a great school year as you start, whether it's putting your first or last child into kindergarten or you are frantically searching colleges getting ready to let go.  And please brag away this year, we love the projects, awards, college acceptance and prom pictures, whether it's senior year or preschool.

I hope everyone has a wonderful school year !!!!

Charlotte

Thanks, Charlotte.   Smiley

My niece, Jordan, (a year older than Ellen) just started aviation training at Westminster College in Utah.

Ellen started her senior year in high school today.  Apparently, she's the only student in her Commercial Art II class--so her coursework will be very much self-directed.  She also has Drawing II and III, Painting II, and AP Art, which will involve a lot of studio work.  Her largest focus this year will be developing portfolios for the colleges she plans to apply to.

I tried to convince her to take it easy this year, but she insisted on taking a full load.  She also took AP Micro and Macro Economics, AP Government, and AP English III.   Tongue

At least I know what she'll be doing in the evening--working.

Best,

George

My wife starts her 8th year of teaching next week.  Thats when things get real hectic around the house especially in the mornings.  Not looking forward to it, I can tell you that.  However, the 25 kids who play outside my house every night should be in a little earlier.  That is nice!!!  Have a great school year

My YOUNGEST  graduated from college in May. For the first time in 22 years, I will have no one to send off for the first day of school. Gotta get those kids busy on producing some grand kids for me!!! Grin

We are heading to our first day of Kindergarten tomorrow!  Smiley While my daughter couldn't be more excited .. I am still trying to get over feeling like she might get lost somewhere in that big school! Roll Eyes

My best friend had to remind me today that my daughter is not the first child in the world to go to kindergarten and we made it through okay all 12+ years;)

Good luck and well wishes to the rest of you.
