This bastid became a hurricane very rapidly.  It started out yesterday morning as a tropical depression and progressed to a Cat. 1 hurricaine in a very short time.  If you look at the model above, it is predicted to be a Cat. 3 by the time it hits the Gulf.  And of course, once it hits the Gulf, it's a crapshoot.

Jimbo's already said that he needs to get a bag packed  Sad

There will be Hurricaines all of September and they will all hit FL just because we are going on vacations there the end of September.

I do hope it fizzles out and no homes or life's are lost. It seems like the last three years the weather has just took its total on everyone.
For the last four days its rained here from Fay. If it keeps on we will be buying a boat !

I'm just glad we don't get the things up here but it sucks and I don't get why they seem....to me...early this year. Hatten down those batches kids and may the weather gods give you a break this fall.

Strap yourself down and hang on with both hands, sending prayers that it scales down a whisker for you guys and gals. Undecided

At least we usually don't get hurricanes this far inland (although Camille came in on the Mississippi coast and didn't loose hurricane status until it skirted Jackson MS, about 150-200 miles inland).  Like Elaine, we get some of the rain bands and sometimes even get high winds and tornados are a must!

Oh well, at least the ground doesn't shake (well, it does once in a blue moon and not very bad then).

This is the 5 day forecast
