Airplane ride to Hawaii
Aug 28th, 2008 at 2:05am

Does anyone know of any regulations allowing a higher flow rate regulator on an airplane than the POC FFA approved units?

Thank you very much!

I'm not positive, but each airline sets a "o2 policy". I do not know of one that will allow a passenger to carry their own reg and tank aboard.

and for sure not now...see Quantas a short while back...theory is that an O2 tank exploded through the outer wall...

If your talking about just the regulator all you have to do is just put it in your checked bags.

If your talking about taking an 02 tank aboard a plane.......LMMFAO!!!!!  Smiley

Sorry.....LOL  Grin

sorry...that was only half an answer.

Wherever I fly, I prearrange for O2 tanks which I pick up at a local branch of my O2 shop (Lincare). Or have them delivered. Like Jonny says, carry the mask/regulator in your baggage.

Best,

Jon

Ok, after re-reading this.....you mean can you use your regulator with the airlines 02 on board the plane?

That is something you need to ask the airline.

Sorry I misread your post.  Embarrassed

Thank you for the quick replies.  I was hoping that there was some magic to be had.  Jeff is a little unsettled about the trip and not being able to use O2 and having to use Imitrex.  The only reason we are going on a plane at all is the youngest daughter prefers to be married in Hawaii.
Apria has been contacted and we will have the O2 delivered.

If you think of anything please give us your wisdom.

Gratefully Yours,
Jeff and Kimberly

We are looking into that one.  NW O2 clause seems to say they have air on board.  We'll find out what kind.  The POC"s only have a 3 lpm capacity.  This is unnerving and I don't even have the headaches....(just the love of my life and boy do I hurt for him)

Hi Kimberly.
A regulator is fine.  I always take mine in my carry on bag.  They always want to see it when it goes through xray.

Most airlines do not allow O2.  U gotta be careful.  I booked a flight with Alaska, (who allowed O2 a couple years ago), and they booked me on Horizon, who did not allow O2.  You can imagine I was pretty pissed off, because I specifically asked about O2.

If you are allowed to use the airline's O2, but only at 3LPM, Jeff should bring a garbage bag and start filling it as soon as he can at 3LPM.  Then when he needs to use it, he should have a bag full of O2.

Kim, as others have already said, your regulator should be fine.

Now go have a wonderful time and come back and show us all the sandy beaches, you hear.?
A pic of a cabana boy will do also.   Wink
