Why do I feel like I've lost some friends? (Read 5564 times)

Turn that frown upside-down, oh, Melly-mine! Your frineds are your friends regardless...especially when it comes to Politics! And, if someone is so shallow as to turn on you because of politics....well, I'm not sure I would place much value on them!

Now, elections ARE indeed, behind us..... let's get back to beast-bashing fun stuff!

I don't know why Mel. I for one am very proud of you for taking a whole hearted interest in the future of your family and of this Country.

It;s been said in many ways and forms, but it's true none-the-less.

You gotta stand for something or you'll fall for anything.

Besides--don't you think we would have had political threads anyway even if you'd never said a word?

Nothing that went on here was all that bad, either. Could be it's just because I don't mind a little civilized contentiousness--but I really think it was pretty darn mild.

You've gotta remember that I live in Idaho. Unless a political party requires its members to move into an armed compound peopled with goose-stepping skinheads, we don't really notice extremism. Wink

Trust me, you lost no friends!

I agree with George, the debates on here were very mild. I've seen a lot stronger stuff around here about a whole lot less important issues. there are several here that I disagree with very strongly politically, but they would be the first I would want behind me dealing with CH, and though I have not yet met them I consider them very good friends.

Friendship goes way beyond agreeing on every thing. That went out in Jr High.

Ok so I never could get those darn metaphors straight....

but you get the idea....

Politics, football and religion are just something that people are NEVER gonna agree on (at least in my LONG experience).

But during this LOOONGGG election season You, my dear have kept it interesting BECAUSE You have taken the time and effort to do RESEARCH (and had this old broad doing a lot of reading that she hasn't heretofore been doing!) and come back with a lot of FACTS. If nothing else, I'd say that gained a lot of respect from those who didn't know you, so the balance sheet probably shows more assets (friends that is) on your side.

Now, here's the Granny lecture -- don't you EVER change that curiosity... when kids your age QUIT asking questions and arguing facts we're doomed.... Not quit exfoiliating so much and let that skin build up a little tougher...

When I saw a post from you on the board, it was the first thing I'd open. I learned from you, my dear, clicked on your links, and whether I agreed or not, I was proud of your determination to get to the bottom of the matter of the issues.

I don't think I've ever known you to be so intense and I really admire you.

That's their problem then. If they've lost respect for you, for not drinking the kool-aid and following your own convictions and thinking for yourself, then really how good of a friend could they have been in the first place?
