I know it's a lot to ask...
Nov 26th, 2008 at 10:43am

But if you have the time, could you send my brother-in-law Matt a Christmas/holiday card?  He's in Iraq right now out in the middle of nowhere and very, very home sick.

Here's his address:

Corporal Matthew Filtz
1/4 Engineer Plt
Unit 40250
FPO AP 96426-0250

Thank you SO much!!! Kiss

p.s.  He is the most family oriented person I know and after talking with him on the phone 15 min. ago, you could just hear how depressed and distraught he is at not being home.  I know it's selfish of me to ask when there are so many others in the same situation, but I just can't help it. Cry

Mel,
It would be an honor to send him a card.
I bet he'll get flooded with them from clusterville.
Thanks for letting us know...it's certainly not asking to much!

Much Love,
Jackie

Oh the irony of saying "I know it's a lot to ask" when asking to do a small thing for a Serviceperson overseas.

Anyone else find it ironic?

Helen, I just emailed Matt to find out.  I sorta wanted this to be a surprise for him, so hopefully he doesn't catch onto anything.

You guys are AWESOME!!!  Thank you again! Smiley

btw, FramCire, I think the reason why I put the title the way I did, is because there are so many here who have problems of their own I really hate to bother anyone about it, but did so in the hopes that a couple would take me up on it.  And I'm just thrilled that people are!!!

Count me in too Mel.  I would imagine that the sooner we send them, the better due to the distance and then of course all the red tape in processing mail for soldiers.   Am I correct?

Yes.  You could wait a week or two at the MOST, but it's best to get them in the mail as soon as you can.  For example, a USPS Priority mail box takes 8 days to get to him from Wisconsin.

1st, call me Eric.

2nd, I hope you take didn't take my post as questioning you in any way.  I just was trying to suggest that this kind of thing isnt a lot to ask for people who give so much.

TY again everyone.  And Eric, I understand now, thanks.

If anyone is wanting to send a card from overseas, perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to send them to me first, and then I'll forward them to him.  If you'd like to do it this way instead, PM me for my address.

Oh he's going to be so surprised!! Smiley

Mel,

You are not being selfish!  You cannot ask for others, unless you happen to know their particulars, but you can as for one who needs it that you know so well.  I know how much it meant to us when some of you all sent stuff to Rob while he was over there.

Mine will go out first of the week, as soon as I get a chance after getting home.

Jerry

Quite frankly, it sounds MORE than ironic - it sounds crazy!

OF COURSE!

It'll be on the way next week.  Can we send home-made food, like brownies or something?  Or is that a problem?

Oh yes you can!  Matt loves things like that!  As long as you reference me in the card, he'll know they're safe, lol. Wink
