Our Clusterville Advent Calendar
Nov 30th, 2008 at 4:20pm

A really good friend of mine is running a competition designed to help new people in another long running competition. He is the inspiration for this idea now.

I think we need some lurve around here and to that end - I'd like to count down from now to Christmas by posting each day with the name and an anecdote about someone here who inspires me and someone who doesn't post anymore who has also made an impact on me.

The effect is twofold, it makes us feel good, it makes the recipients feel good and it might tempt some people back who lurk.

I'd like to invite you all to join me in this, sharing things that have made us laugh or think or even changed our whole way of thinking.

The one thing I would ask is if you post about someone you are in contact with, or see a post about someone you are in contact with - send them the link - let them see! Spread the christmas Spirit!

So 'cos it's my thread I get to kick off!

This was hard, so many people and who to pick. I've got lots of names stored up and stories but I'm starting today (for the 1st Dec) with Cyndi, aka Cynjeep.

Cyndi is one of the most fun people to be with I know. Either on the boards or on the tiles! She's warm, compassionate and you know what else? She is such a phenomenal supporter of everyone else that I have to poke myself to remember she is a sufferer too - when have you heard her whinge? I'll bet money it's never. Cyndi, you are an inspiration and I am happy, lucky and  proud to call you my friend

For my person who doesn't post anymore I'm going to cheat today and post two names. Simply because this time, I cannot choose.

In the past week I've had emails from Piper and Barbara Young supporting me when they saw I was upset. The love and care and compassion from these two ladies in trying to cheer me up reduced me to tears. GOOD tears though and they're the sort that leave rainbows in your eyes.

Barbara left after some ugliness a long time ago and Piper hasn't been around in forever either. They are both assets to ch.com and I'm hoping they'll both come back. This will be a better place with them here than it is without.

I'm not one to wish my life away as you all know - but I can't wait to start this again for the 2nd of December!

love to you all
Helen x

While I don't know what LURVE is..I think this is a great idea.

Did you want everyone to post daily?   Being here 10 years...I got a lot of people who've made me laugh or inspired me.

Elaine was the first clusterhead I ever met, so I'll start with her.

If I had the stamina to sit at this computer for 5 days with non-stop typing I couldn't scratch the surface of how many times and ways  woman has made me laugh.   Need some endorphins?  Give Elaine a call.

Elaine has also inspired me with her life stories that she has endured that would make a lesser person just cave in and not want to go on.  She stayed on top of the slings and arrows that were thrown her way and overcame medical challenges and personal ones.    I just love that lady!

Jean.  TxBassLady.  She has a golden heart, and a funny, unique, and very wise perspective.

Jean was the first person to PM me here, and we subsequently became good friends.  She's also the first clusterhead I ever spoke to on the phone.  We've telephoned each other since, but it never seems as if it's often enough.

I miss seeing her here.  I hope when circumstance allows, that she will return here to spend a bit of time with us.  We'll be the richer for it.

Best wishes,

George

Okay here's my December the second "window"

My inspiration today is Jon, our Jon 019. I've always loved chatting to him and reading his stories and his take on life and I missed him dreadfully when he decided to take a leave of absence. I worried about the bugger LOL When he came back it was like a breath of fresh air, he's a stable voice in an unstable world and he never fails to message me if he doesn't see me around to make sure I'm okay. He's a gentle caring fun person to know and we could use a hundred Jon's here - even if he DOES talk funny!  Wink

Someone I'm really missing is Pittsburgh Joe. He used to post all the time when I was new here and I loved reading his persective on life. I miss him alot. I learned a lot from his view of life, it made me see things I hadn't seen before and I know I still have a lot to learn about life and me from him. If anyone IS in contact him please threaten cajole or just plain BEG him to come back once in a while... and give him my love and a big ol' hug please.

Is it Dec 3rd yet?!

Oh what a lovely idea, 25 days and two a day just will not cover all the people here, I love and respect and have given me a new lease on Life. I been here 9 1/2 years that's a lot of people in that many years.

Linda I love you and I thank you. You know you have inspired me through the years. What you have done for people here on ch.com inspires me more everyday.   I am blessed  to have you as my friend. I think back on the things you and I have done together, lets see we shopped for underwear together  and I have to say it was a fun shopping day. You and I have been roommates at the conventions. We have had some great times. You have been here for me through some real hard times. I will never forget a second of it.

Margi was one that I met here, she stands out in my mind. She would come to your pity party for a short while then she would pull your butt up, before the party ended you felt so much better and you had a reason to fight the beast again. She always renewed my energy. I was blessed enough to met her and Mike in Vancouver. Margi was everything wonderful, a fine lady as I knew she would be. A great supporter and friend though the years.

Now for the ones that don't post any more.

When I first came here I met the board idiot (new people don't jump me that is what he called himself)
His name was Dave we called him Drummer. I learned so much from him. He taught me a lot about dealing with clusters and with life. I could never repay him in a million years for that gift. I miss him and his lovely family.

For a couple who now live in Heaven.

Kip and Judy God I miss them. For you new people. Kip and Judy are in Heaven now. They were two fine people. They were happy and they were supportive. Kip could kick the beast ass better than anyone I knew. He had the best supporter ever his wife Judy. Kip believed in O2 and he came up with cooling the O2 and the Kip Scale . The stories he told could make you laugh till you cried. No matter what was going on in his life, he always found time for each of us. I will miss them this Christmas. I will Drink a bloody Mary for them this Christmas.

Ok, E, Helen, maybe today is the day we send our words skyward.
Since this begain, Helen, I've been thinking about some I miss because they are no longer of this world, and no longer suffer CH. Ken, Brian, you were both bright, sensitive, incredibly creative men who left this world long before your time. Ken, you always knew it, I just didn't believe you. Thank you for the X'd Up CH logo and your dreams. Brian, you larger-than life, Southern gentleman, I raise my mint Julep to you. You are both missed! Kip and Judy, I am soo glad I got to meet you both! You were, most assuredly, life mates. To have left this world within days of each other proves this.and I like to think of you two looking down now, over your CH family. Thank you for your very worthwhile contributions to Clusterville. Now, I'm done with that, lets turn to those truly MIA..........

FRANK-Jeepgun!! Whose laughing with you? Who's returning all the kindnesses you did for others when they were getting hit? Are you busy SCUBA diving? Tell us where you've been...you are missed!
Paigelle-The daughter I am much too young to acknowledge......honey, I lost track of you when my puter fried...PLEASE let me know how to find you!!
NancyC(smiles)..just talking to you brought a grin to my face! That slooow southern accent, soo proud of your boys..and now, are you still raising Tristan?
Lastly, but soitenlee not leastly, the main source of laughter on the board 5-6 someodd years ago........
SLAMMY! Where are ya Jim? Still exiled to one of the Carolinas? You need to get back here and share your ADVENTURES..I remember you promised to get back and tell tales!
Den & Georgia....BleuCheese dressing, Jayne, dating as a clusterhead,
SOMEONE claiming Orgasm was an abortive...Chuck claiming Orgasm as a trigger......oh, yeah, he's still here....
Brain Cramps! I've seen him checking in, but he vanishes so quickly! Grant, you know I suck at puting....wontcha come back and help me???
Love, laughter replacing tears, supporters, and sufferers giving support, one big teepee as everyone leans on each other to give and receive support......come back to the fold, my friends, join us as we watch the river flow..........

Cathi ---missing each and every one of you...... Undecided

Wow, there are so many good people here that it makes it hard to pick just one...so I won't.

Sanna.  I wish I could be more like her.  Although I have never met her in person, she seems to have such a gentle and caring soul and when I see her posts or think of her, I smile.  She is always offering support, congratulations and love to many people.  Stay sweet Sanna, okay?  We need more people in this world like you.

Barry and Angie.  I feel like I have a second brother in Barry and the sister I always wanted in Angie.  Their caring, sharing and friendship mean more to me than they will ever know.

Eddie.  What an absolute sweetheart of a man he is and his wife seems to be as sweet as they come.

Terry.  A peaceful and kind man with such a kind way about him.  The kind of man who would do anything for anyone.

Jerry.  I was so grateful to have met him and he is another person who brings a smile to my face when I think about him.  He has such love for his family and a beautiful, kind soul.

The Brew Crew....Bill, Pat and Roy.  One heck of a family for sure and I am proud to call them my friends.

Bill (Racer)  A gentle giant of a man, a true Southern gentleman and one heck of a buddy.  He always seems to say something that makes me stop, think and see another side of things.  (He probably does this to try to confuse me even more than I already am just to mess with my head. Grin)

Liz (alienspacebabe).  The first CHer I ever met.  Where the heck are you, Liz?  We miss you!!!!

Linda.  What can I say about her that most of us don't already know?  She can be a spitfire when needed, a shoulder to lean on and is always there to help when people are hurting.  She is one heck of a woman for sure.

Carol.  Another sweetheart of a woman who I hope to meet someday.  I wish Canada were closer to Delaware so we could watch Dancing With the Stars together. Wink

Helen.  A true inspiration to me.  You have an inner strength that is amazing, a sense of humor that is unreal and a love of life that is infectious.....thanks for sharing all of this with us.

Tanner.  I miss your goodnight posts and I miss you.  Hope you can come back and see us sometime.

Sheesh, we have so many good people her that I could go on and on but will stop for now.

Okay, I lied.....have to add Becky and B.J.  My buddies and my friends.  Love ya bunches and miss you even more.  No need to get mushy here since you know how I feel about both of you. Wink

Just gonna rattle off a list for the whole month because it's been a LONG day and I'm just ready to quit. So yeah here goes.

Ray(my very good friend)-You brought me up when I was down and talked to me like a real person and not just a kid. You were there when I needed to talk about stuff that I just couldn't handle. Thank you.

Helen(aka my other Mum)-You are the best, sweetest person in the world and I love you to death. You're smart, funny, and a ton of crazy red headed trouble that I love trying to keep up with. You truely are a savior.

Paul(my favorite window licker)-I may rag on you a lot but I still love to hear what you have to say and can't wait to see you again. You put a smile on my face and remind me at times just why I'm here.

Barak(my brother, who is missing yet again)-Dude, I'd die without you. You've been there for me when the nights were late and I was scared and no one else was around. You knew about the crap with my mom before anyone and helped me through it. I love you and miss you.

Becky(my step-mom and strength)-You let me believe I can do just about anything and let me tell you anything without judging. I swear there are days when you've lost your head but when ever I need you you're always there. Thank you hunny. You have no idea how much you mean to me. I'm glad I (and Dad) found you.

And last but most deffinatly not least, Daddy(BillyJ.)-The true reason I live through all the crap I've been through is to make you proud. To do everything you wanted me to and to be the person possibly even better than you wanted me to be. You will always be my strength and my wisdom because let's face it at times I'm not so smart. Thank you for everything you've done for me and I hope I can make you as proud as I hope you can be.

I am going to do more than two today.

Bob P well Bob is one to make people think, he reminds me of a school teacher I use to have. He said you think better when someone disagrees with you. Bob is what I call a true friend. We worked together on O.U.C.H. and we bumped heads some times. We both knew that we had to keep O.U.C.H. and friendship separate. Bob helped me through some really hard times, he made some dark times bright. I was blessed enough to meet him and his lovely wife. I learned so much from this man, he helped me live again.

Then there is Hub, I miss Hub. I don't know if Hub knows it or not. I lost faith in my God at one point. Hub brought my God back to me, he gave me back my faith that I had lost. I prayed with Hub through email and regained my faith. Hub not only brighten my life here on earth but gave me life after death.
For this I will always be so grateful. He gave me the best gift of all.

Then there is Terry S he is still around and he emails with many of us. Terry stayed with me, write or wrong, he doesn't judge. He has been here for me in good times and bad. He seems to know when I need a lift and a smile. His emails brighten my days and nights. I know I can count on him. He has kept my faith in God alive and if I start slipping, then in pops a email.

Judy W, Oh what a lady. She is around as always for everyone she knows. She drove the O.U.C.H. Van remember? She has had some health problems and watching her has also renewed my faith and gave me the courage to go the next step. People like this lady is hard to find. In pain she always has time for her friends. I love this lady. I wish her well.

Bob G a good man. I read every post he writes, I long to hug his neck. He is full of great advice. He is another one that has been in my life and gave me courage from the begining. Bob G has given us all a lot and he has been here for us never letting any of us down. He is just part of my life, a wonderful part. He has a level head and I like that about him.

Cathy P now this lady she speaks her mind and I love that. She is kind and passionate, she is full of life, she can make you forget all your troubles. I look for her post when I come here. She just has gives you a warm feeling when you read her post. Sometimes that warm feeling is when you pee in your pants from laughing so hard when you read her post. I love to laugh and she knows how to make me.

Gayle H, this lady is just out of this world. She one of my best email buddys. She keeps me crying and laughing. She has a great outlook and is so positive all the time, there is no way you can be negative when she around, she just lifts you right up. If there is a email from her the first thing in the morning I know my day will be a wonderful one, she just starts it off right!

Warren and Bonnie Woods, that's a wonderful loving couple. Warren has clusters and Bonnie supports him. Warren gave me the will to go on in life at a time I had given up. He was fighting for his life as I was. Those two gave me the tools to fight and keep fighting. When we both won our battle. I don't think I could have done it with out their support and their spirit. Meeting Bonnie and Warren was a wonderful week end for me. They were everything I dreamed they would be. It is a honor to call these two my friends. I am going to get to hug their necks again one day. They are a class act!

That's it for today ! Can't wait for tomorrow!

Jimi Hendrix has always been an inspiration to me since the first day I met him in Atlanta 9 years ago.

His level of patience is what  I think about everytime I am tempted to go off on someone.  He has shown by example how to be nice,  stay above the fray and still be himself.  I have so much respect for this man.
His stories are second only to Elaine and for anyone who hasn't had a chance to listen to them at a get-gether or a convention I whole-heartedly suggest you do.

By the way everyone - it doesn't matter if you post the same people as someone else - this is about YOUR preceptions and experiences, no one elses!

Today I've got someone I love dearly as, anyone who knows her, does. Michelle Adamson also known as mast is just about one of the most fun people to be with I know. She is really funny and I love listening to her opinions on everything. She is compassionate and practical which is an awesome and formidable mix. With that combination you can (and Michelle DOES) change the world.
She also introduced me to White Russians in Chicago. The hotel was like Camp Deadly but Michelle and Mast made it one of those places I'll always want to be in my memories. I cannot wait to see her again.

My today's blast from the past is someone I miss dearly and really enjoyed getting to know. I miss Firebrix something rotten and her lovely stories both on the board and in pm's. She's someone I could never have enough time with and truly miss. If anyone is in touch with her, please beg, plead and cajole her to come back - I need her in my life!

Ahhhhhh, yes....Firebrix.  I enjoyed her sooooooo much.  She told a great story.  We exchanged e-mails for a very long time after she quit posting.  Then one day she was gone.  I think of her often and wonder how they are.

I'd like to add another MIA.  Ave (am thinking that's how she spelled it).  She was always a great source of information.  She could spin a fine tale too.  I really miss her....she was/is a fine lady.

Navygunner....he's been gone for 9 or so years.  He was a huge help to me when I first came to ch.com.  He'd stay in chat with me for hours back when Blake was sooooooo very bad.  I'll never forget his kindness

There are so many that I respect and admire.  It's going to take some hard thinking to sort them all out.....more later Smiley

Racer1NC (Bill) is one friend I love because he is truely the genuine article.  He is a gentleman, very caring and will give you his time whenever you need it, no matter what it's for.  I am a better person for knowing him. Smiley

I miss MaryD.  She was like a mom to me and could always take me poking fun at her with a light heart.  I hope that she finds us again someday, but until then, I will always keep her in my heart.

I miss JD.  The kindest artist I ever got to hug and I have a print of his Santa Claus that will be put up yet again for Christmas. Smiley

I also miss Big Dan.  Dang is he funny!  I always looked for his posts because I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.

I too have more, and will maybe post more in the upcoming days as my memory allows.

Today I will talk about a few more people that bring sunshine to my life.

Ree and Dave I met them in NY and they are a very lovely couple. Ree has a love for Family and a special relationship with children. I use to love to see the pictures she posted of the children she cared for. I remember one on Halloween she posted. I always look for a post from her. I love reading about her family. She is a great supporter to us all. I love her and pray for her family everyday as I know she does for all of us.

Randy (Mr. Happy) He is like his screen name Happy! I always loved his post and at the NY convention I met him. He was so much fun, and he knew how to make everything right. When he walked in a room, you just waited for him to do something that would make you smile. He is not only funny, he is there when you need him. You might not see him post and you might think he is not around. Believe me he is here, if he sees you in trouble and he can help you will hear from him.
We had some really good times. He is with me always in my heart.

Mel, well Mel is just our board sweetheart, she makes everyone welcome here. She has something nice to say to everyone. She also  tells things like it is. To met her in person she is such a bright star.
She carries the world on her shoulder, and she makes make the world a better place just by being in it. I wish I had her energy and spunk. She is a dear friend to me and many here. I love this lady very much.

Cat, she has cat eyes that's a fact. She loves her family and friends. What makes her so special to me is that she has been through so much in her life, she still finds time to give her love and time to us.She has a great way of expressing herself. She wears a smile no matter what is going on in her life. She is one that shows up when you feel the worst and think you have no where to turn. It is like she knows.

Mast, she is a wonderful friend. She and I have had some great times, she is smart as a whip, when she does something she does it right and won't give up till it is done. I respect her opinions and I respect her as a person. She is so level headed, she knows when to joke around and she knows when to be serious. We spent many nights in the chat room. I miss the chats with her. My computer is old and won't let me chat any more.

Roxey, she is a foxy lady, she is full of energy always a smile on her face. She can laugh at life and what it dishes out. She has a glow about her that makes you feel good inside when you are around her. Roxey reminds me of  Marlo Thomas who played in "That Girl" ! She is just loveable !

Bama  is her screen name, her name is Jane, now talk about real southern lady that is who Jane is.  She has real southern class. I spent a week end with her in Vancouver. I wouldn't have gone had she not promised to fly on the same plane with me (I don't like to fly alone). We had so much fun. I find her in the chat room from time to time here and go in to speak to her, I sure miss her post. I may have her screen name spelled wrong.

Jayne now Jayne is a pleasure to know, one of the funniest lady's I know. She got to my heart right away. I met her in Atlanta OMG she was fun to be with. The stories she told was out of this world. I will never forget the ben gay story she told. She had a heart the size of TX. She is just one lovely lady. One of these days I hope to see her on TV. She has a special talent that makes people smile and laugh and be happy. She puts a spell on all she meets. I just love her.

Edna well this lady I really admire, she has a love for family and friends that just make you want to be in her life. She has lifted my days and nights through email. I love to talk to her over the phone.
She has a way of making you feel like you have known her all your life. She is easy to talk to. She is one that picks me up when I am down. I am proud to call her my friend.

December 3rd already - good grief!

Christmas is coming and it's not taking prisoner!

Today I want to tell you how much fun I've had over the past few years thanks to our loveable larrikin, Aussie Brian and his delightful and longsuffering sidekick, Denny AKA Shoodabinanun  Grin I can't even think of her "name" without grinning, that really tickles me!

I look forward to Brians posts so much, I will open a thread first if I see his name as last poster as I know it will either be hilarious or straight to the point, succinct concise and like James Bond's martini's - very, very dry. No matter what the content they are absolutely ALWAYS worth reading and I would never miss one. Brian has a way of cutting right through the smoke and getting to the fire. He sits back and waits and then does exactly what needs to be done. He's fascinating to chat to, has hundreds' of interesting anecdotes and, along with Denny, is/are people I long to meet. One day - it just has to be. That's all there is too it.
Denny herself is hilarious, she has a talent for writing that she should use and get published. I'd be the first in line to buy her books I can tell you. She's a warm compassionate funny lady and she's just not here enough - as a matter of fact if she was here 24/7 it wouldn't be enough and I'm NOT greedy!

I miss you both dreadfully when I dont' get to speak to you - but I miss you, just know that.

My long lost friend for today is Rich E. He came along to Milwaukee and was just someone I loved finally meeting. I'd loved his posts on the boards for the longest time and meeting him was just like reading here, he was no different. Well - except for realling laughing out loud instead of LOL-ing!
He hasn't been here in forever and it's our loss. He was always supportive, always fun and a reminder of how TO be. I miss you Rich. God bless where ever you are ((HUG))

Those that bring a smile and a memory.

DJ and Steph - Thanks for the site.  One of these days when I visit the relatives in Wichita our schedules will match.

Jonny - the 1st person I chatted with - way back when the site was like a topic drive chat line.  That must have been in 99, or 00.  He's one of the few I talk to on the phone.  I still owe him beers and a steak.  To think I was only blocks from him at one point and didn't know it.

Nancyc - See helped my knock my Staydol NS addiction.  She saw it coming long before I did.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Cathi -- Knows more about my trials and tribulations of my personal life than anyone else.  Always there to add support and friendship. Thank you Puddin.

Linda H. - Another telephone pal.  Love seeing her posts. So very carring, compassionate and has a fantastic bull shit detector.

Mel - just a sweetie.  Did I freak you out a little last week?

Ms E - I just don't know how you do it all and keep it together.

Charlie, Bob, Chuck, Jimi, Jim, Fubar, Lelimey, Pep,Cat, Aussiebrain, guiseppi  - There are so many times your posts have enlightened me, brought laughter or a tear.  Whatever was needed at the time.

Must admit I miss Big Dan - the only CH'er I've personally met.

Slammy, Sailpappy, who ocassionally fall off the grid. Hope they are doing ok.

Please take no offense if I've left you off the list. I'll remember more in later posts.
