Oxygen Usage
Jan 16th, 2009 at 5:16pm

I got into a discussion with some fellow clusterheads, and we were trying to figure out the oxygen usage that we experience.

I get 4 "M" tanks and 6 or 8 "E" tanks, for each delivery.  Depending on my cycle status, those could last me a month.  BUT there have been times where they have only lasted a week.  So, I guess, I would have to say, my "normal" oxygen usage is 4 "M" and 6 "E" per month.

My question to you is, what is your oxygen usage per month?

CAUTION:  Do NOT smoke when using or around oxygen.  Oxygen can permeate your clothing or bedding.  Wait, before lighting cigarette or flame.

Keep fire extinguisher available, and charged.

I can't go by per month as my cycle lasts about 40 days, but if I'm at the peak of my cycle, I go through 1 M tank every 3 days.  Otherwise, toward the end of my cycle, it can take upwards of 5-6 days to empty one.

Chuck:

During "High" season, I can go through 6-8 E tanks, during "Low" season I go through only 1 or 2.

Wishing you well,

I was refreshing my Visual Basic skills and have plotted my oxygen consumption over the past 10 years (the time I'm chronic):

In the top graph each red line represents the delivery of a 20 liter tank. (As an user of rational units it's easy to calculate: 20 liter at 200 bar give 4000 liter at ambient pressure Smiley)

In the bottom graph the blue area represents the approximate consumption rate. Approximat since I always have 2 tanks and sometimes order a new one if the other is still half full.

chronic

4-6 tanks a month, that is an av. of 5 tanks a month a tank is 20 lt. at 200 bar, yield 4000 liters at ambient pressure, I use per day just about 30 mints at 22liters/minute is 660 lt. per day so  30 days in av. A month gives 19800lt. a month, 5 tanks yield 20000lt.
Since I use the ONS (occipital Nerve stimulation) I have stopped all preventive medicines, the only “substance” I use for my CH episodes (about 1.5 episodes a day) is O2, so that is why the high O2 consumption.

When I'm in cycle it's about 2 m-tanks and 14 e-tanks a month.

Episodic. I have gone from dust on the bottle to 2 K-tanks a week. 240 cu.ft. in three days is my personal best. That sucked. Even the memory sucks.

It varies depending on high or low cycles.

I have gone through 4 E tanks in a day and other times 4-6 tanks could last me 2 weeks.

There are periods where they have collected dust for nearly 3 weeks then shabang I'm living it up in my own personal oxygen bar for months on end.

Who the hell knows. I honestly just make a call and Apria delivers.

Okay...If you have not used 02 yet...how much should I ask for when I get my script?   I am scheduled in Feb to go to the Ryan HA Center.  (Thanks Beth, Paul and Kim).

Chuck, I'll tell ya how much I use once I start using it.   I pray it will work for me.

I have a G tank. I've gone through 2/3 of it in 2 weeks. It sucked carrying it up the stairs and into the house.

Anybody mind if I make a chart of everyone's usage?  I'll leave the names off.

1 to 5 M tanks per week as a chronic, spring-fall-winter is heavy usage and summer is light. Before I acquired CH, I had worked for 4 yrs 3rd shift so it's not a light thing other than maybe I'm just real light sensitive.

PF’s,

Rolo.

Mike is having delivered 2 M tanks and 4 E tanks every two weeks (or so) right now but we are ramping up and that might increase. Only at night has increased to traveling everywhere with the E tanks. DAMN. Thought we were on our way down the bell curve.

Hard for me to guess: I stopped using O2 "because it didn't work" before I learned how to use it. (You might say that I was "doing it wrong"  Wink)

Now that I'm set up with big T tanks (each T is equal to 2.75 M tanks) I actually don't go through as much now because I started taking bigger doses of RC seeds on a regular schedule.

Give me another month and I'll see if I still feel that the seeds are making O2 hyper-effective for me. It's almost too good to be true, so I'm going to wait to prove it to myself.

Prior to the seeds, it was 16 E tanks per month. Now it's probably 1/4 of that.
