Need to find O2 quickly
Jul 30th, 2009 at 6:34am

Hi, I live in the UK in london and am at a really bad stage of my cluster period. I had an injection to the occipital nerve yesterday which seems to have made things worse Sad I am now experiencing 9 attacks a day and horrid shadows in between the attacks. My GP, neurologist and pain specialist is abroad and I really need to get hold of some O2 as cant take 8 shots of imigran! I would really appreciate any info on how one would be able to obtain O2 at the pressure needed in the quickest time possible. I am unsure of whether O2 will work for me but I dont want to take any more meds and all preventatives are not working....thanks

Hi Jarris,

There are lots who get O2 in London, but who knows when they'll show up here...

Call their OUCH Line - Organization for the Understanding of Cluster Headache

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register
HelpLine -leave a message and someone will get back with you soon.  they are CH sufferers and supporters just like us here at CH.com, but in London.  Great people!!  I know a few over there.

Have you used energy drinks at the onset??? Ice/ Heat? Hot/ Cold showers? hmm there are a few other things out there that help a little...

Wishing you PF time soon!  Wink

Hi Val,

Thanks for the info. I'll give them a ring right away, thanks for the help.

I always have an energy drink at hand and try running, jumping etc. to try and ease it. However, this time round the drinks don't seem to be working. Usually massaging the veins makes it somewhat better but now during an attack my face is almost too sensitive to touch. Weird...

Here's what to do...

Go to your GP (who ever is covereing him while he is away) or even have a telephone consultatltion with them....

Ask them to to fill out a HOOF  (Home Oxygen Order Form) and fax it off to who ever supplies medical oxygen in your area. It's BOC in Peterborough.

In my experience you have to tell docs exactky what to do on these forms.

You need 15 litres per min bottles... at least three of them.
You need a non rebreathable mask for cluster headaches (get them to write that on the form)

Get them to tick the EMERGENCY box. If they do this is will be with you within 4 hours.  If not it's more like 4 days so it's very important.

After 20 mins of ringing the docs ring up the oxygen supplier to make sure they have got the fax and are bringing you what you expect. BOC are very good and will help you.

HTH

Hi Joey,

Thank you so so much!! Fingers crossed I can get it today. I am seeing the covering GP this afternoon. Hopefully it aborts the attacks.... Smiley

If all else fails, many of us have happily and healthily using welding O2 for years. Depends upon just bad you want to stop the agony.

I can't think of a faster way to get oxygen.
