What happened to me last night???
Sep 2nd, 2009 at 11:39pm

Hello!

I am new!

For the last 10 years I have had very strange Migraine Variants. Being, no headache - very strange and scary neurological symptoms. I have seen 4 Neurologists, and neither of them can figure me out! haha. All we know is that the medication works.  Undecided

Anyhoodle,

Two nights ago, (Tuesday night) just as I was getting ready for bed. The right side of my head really started to hurt. My ear, my gums, my eye ... owww! I took two pandadols and got my heat pack, and I managed to get to sleep.

Last night, on the way home from work .. I started to get really sore again. The head lights from the oncoming traffic were really distressing. As soon as I got home I took two panadols and I felt a little bit better.

By about 11.30, it was unbearable again. It felt like a really deep .. dull but strong pain. It was behind my right eye, deep in my ear, even a little bit down the side of my throat and on the right hand side of my gums / teeth (although if I touched my teeth they didn't really hurt). I felt a bit sick in the stomach ...

Today I am home from work. I have faint traces of pain and feel exhausted even though I slept for 12 hours.

I know you guys aren't Dr's and I am not looking for a diagnosis .. just wanted to get some feed back as to if this rings a bell to anyone.

Thanks!
Bec

The pain spreading to the ear isn't familiar to me, and the light sensitivity isn't a cluster symptom, but otherwise you're describing some familiar stuff.

Here's hoping its some quickly passing affliction, maybe another one that medical science hasn't ID'd yet, and not actually cluster headaches.  Huh

CH according to Bejeeber:

Strictly relying on doctors for CH treatment is often a prescription that will keep you in a whole lot of PAIN. Doctors are WAY behind in many respects, and they are usually completely unaware of the benefits of high flow 100% O2.

There are lots of effective treatments documented at this site. Take matters into your own hands, learn as much as you can here and at clusterbusters.com, put it into practice, then tell this CH beast Jeebs said hello right before you bash him so hard with a swift uppercut knockout punch that his stupid horns go flinging right off.

Bec-

Unfortunately for me and fortunately for you, it sounds all too familiar to me in my last couple of cycles.  I know exactly what you mean about the eye, ear, gums(jaw), throat and soreness as well.  Mine feels like there is a rubber band connected to the back of my eye that is also connected to my ear and jaw that goes down my throat on that side, then someone is twisting the rubber band making it tighter and tighter. For me, Zyprexa has helped with that in the short term and Verapamil in the long term.  Most people here like O2 and Imitrex.  Have you been diagnosed with Clusters?  Read Bob Johnson's posts.

Good Luck!   Smiley

Thanks for the answers so far ...

No I haven't been diagnosed as last night and the night before are the first times that I have experienced them.

I have had problems with my right ear. I have been to the Dr twice and they have told me I just have 'glue ear' and it will clear up on its own, but it has been mucking up over the last three months or so.

So I am not sure if these headaches and my ear is linked .. but regardless ... these aches are very very new to me.

I was balling my eyes out last night. Even though I am 28 and married, I just wanted my 'mummy'. hahaah. It was that bad! haha

That's about the age I started, too (around 30).  I have had them for 25 years now.  For years, I was diagnosed with sinus infections, ear infections, etc (even though the docs couldn't really see that this was true).  One time, a doctor was going to break my jaw and re set it for what her called a TMJ problem!  Another time, I had a useless root canal!  I finally gave up on complaining about my ear because there was nothing wrong with it even in a ct scan.  I felt as though they thought I was making it up.  My regular doc says it is just the clusters at work...and after reading this site, I think he is right.  Log your headaches with your symptoms and take it with you to the doc.  Somewhere on this site is an article about the different kinds of headaches...read that, it is probably posted by Bob Johnson.  Your doc can only be as good as you are in giving him information.  Read, read, read.
