has anyone tried indomethacin or been on it for an extended period of time for cluster headaches. mine are chronic. i dont get the luxury of a remission period. its been like this all my life. i'm 22 and started having them when i was 7 or 8.  this medicine works really really well. ive been on it for about 6 months i still get daily headaches but not as many. im kind of worried about the long term because this is a harsh medicine on your body. just let me know what you think about this medicine

I had some limited success with Indomethacin as an abortive when I took very high doses at the very first hint of an attack. Never gave me gastric problems, but it would make me feel kind of strange for a few minutes.

In those days, I was desperate for pain relief so I would take any little help I could get. It was before I learned that there are better ways for me to manage MY Cluster headaches.

Are you still on Indomethacin?  I've been on it since Dec, 75 mg once a day.  Increased to twice a day in January, and the beast finally calmed down last week!
I, too, am worried about the long term effects.  I have a lot of "ringing" in my ears and feel dizzy a lot.  I'm also on Topamax...  Going to discuss with my neuro on Thursday, this week...

I took indomethacin for 5 months and got an immediate response and was pain free for that 5 month time period.  However, after 5 months the beast found my address and I have never been able to get the medicine to help me again.

I have taken it before I even knew about the cluster Headaches. It helped alot.  I was taking 50mg three times a day.  Then got off it, headaches came back, went on it again and they are still here.  So i think my body built up a tolerance for it.. Torydol does not even work really well for me either.

I've taken indomethacin, both extended release(75mg/day) and regular(50mg/twice a day) for about 15 years. I was taking it before the CH showed up and it has had no effect on my flavor of the MOFO. It is prescribed to kill off paroxysmal hemicrania

and is an anti-inflammatory used for arthritis and gout. I've never had any stomach problems with it, but some people do. My doctor regularly tests my kidneys and liver for any problems, but so far, so good. The indo definitely helps my arthritis and is cheaper and safer than opiates.

Good luck and here may be the answer to your affliction:

I was just put on it 3 weeks ago and have not had a headache since...I was just diagnosed with paroxysmal Hermicrania and not cluster headaches...I thought for the past 6 months they were ch. I had tried O2 verapimil, sumatriptan, and the injectionss. This was the only thing that worked...Good luck
