Thanks all for the O2 info. O2 rocks!!!!!!!!!!
Nov 9th, 2009 at 9:27am

Thought I would update everyone on the O2 usage on the first night since I have been asked by numerous people. I don't think I had my flow rate figured out just right the first night. But the second night I knocked out all 3 HA's in about 10-12 minutes each. I started at 25 lpm for about 3-4 min, then bumped down to 15 lpm for about 3-4 min then down to 10 for 4-5 min.
I burnt through an e tank with 2 ha's the first night, then the second night I was able to knock out 3 ha's with a little O2 left over in my 2nd tank.  Last night the prednisone taper kicked in NO HA"S  but I do know this is a false sence of security, my MD gave me 180 mg verapamil to start up for a month.
All I know is I will never be without the O2 again!!! Thanks for all the info, you guys rock!!!!! Off to get 3 more E tanks for standby.        jay

Jay,

Nicely done!!  Also you obviously learned a lesson we all learn.... stock up for the bad times!!!!  Due to $$, ins, or whatever.... we can get caught without enough ammo when we need it.  Very smart to get your tanks in order!!!

I wish you many many PFDAN!!!!!!!!  (I love Dan, hate Ralph!)

You've overstayed your welcome since the day we met but it doesn't seem to matter to you.  No medications are your master, nothing makes you fret, it's a helpless feeling having nothing I can do

That is indeed good news, Jay.

One of these days, try 45-60 lpm. The jump from 15 lpm to 25 was huge for me, but the next step up in flow was another big step up in effectiveness.

If I forcefully hyper ventilate on O2, most hits go away in 3 minutes and don't come back soon like they did at 25 lpm. The real beauty is a maximum pain level darn near zero - no real suffering - just an annoyance. That feature has serious value to me.....

I've discovered that I actually use less O2 at a higher flow because I don't need to stay on it as long.

Disclaimer so I don't get yelled at:
Some people get perfect aborts at 8 lpm and never suffer because they don't need more flow, because it stops the pain immediately.

I can only say: God bless them! 25 lpm is the absolute minimum - and that only works sometimes for me.

Wonderful news Jay!,

O2 is a true miracle when it works for us. I still feel that way after 20+ years.

At some point you may want to look into a larger tank (M) for the house. The regulator attachment is different so you may have to get your own 25lpm for that. (suppliers usually have 15lpm.)

I've heard about adaptors to use the E-tank reg with the M's. If & when.

Happy for you, Don

Or a reg from eBay circa $25.

Or a welding regulator that will NEVER limit your flow. You can always dial in less flow on a welding regulator, but you can't get more out of a 15-25 lpm regulator..........

One of many low cost examples: Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Welding tanks have the same CGA-540 fittings as large medical tanks, so a welding regulator can be used on M tanks.
