In the aftermath of a CH period.
Dec 11th, 2009 at 2:07am

Its now been 9 days since the last attack of this years cycles of CH.

Im having alot of shadows witch is normal in the aftermath, but the thing that is new is that my eyelid is vibrating after every shadow (I know there is a English word for it but couldnt find it). This has never happened to me before, and i find it very irritating.

Im also waking up every night around 3-4am dreaming/thinking im under attack again, just to find myself CH-free and very awake. This is also new to me.
The fear that the beast will return is haunting my dreams, making my workday a living hell cause the lack of sleep...

im happy your PF and i also find the shadows just as annoying as the main Hits. The mind is a strange thing and it takes some time to forget the pain levels we reach. Although when in cycle i fear the beast I refuse to let it control my life and try to make the most out of each day by living my life to the fullest (deep sea diving, parachuting, cliff diving, high speed races on the motorway, russian roulette etc)
be strong and try not to think about the little git visiting but be prepared for when he does

Its not that im afraid the attacks will begin all over again at this time. ive had CH for 5 years now so i know what time of year it strikes.

During the day im not really thinking about it, cause im used to the shadows (they come 5-6 times a day in about a month after the last attack).
But cant really control what my mind is doing during my sleep.
Im thinking about getting some sleeping pills to get a whole night sleep during this weekend.

I got my days full atm with work and a daughter (1 1/2 years), and i can promise you that she does NOT agree to relax/nap during the afternoons  Cheesy

Im very soon to enter a zombie stage if im not getting sleep soon. Smiley

Fear and expecting bad events can easily become a mental habit.

It's possible to train yourself to stop this kind of thinking. It takes some gentle but persistent work on your part--but it does work!

I get the eye twitching before a cycle starts.  It is very annoying but it also is an indication to me that it is time to start my meds!

PF wishes,

I know of a few people (not CHr's) who have taken Melatonin and had terrible nightmares.  I actually just had a nightmare last night.  It's time to quit the Mel.  Maybe taking a Tylenol PM might help.

The eye twitching I get sometimes too, but not this cycle.  Every cycle comes with new "irritants" the beast has for us.  He gets creative.

I too am PF since the 1st (ish).  Early X-mas for us!

Angela,

I can't remember who I got this from but I know it was someone here.   I have been taking Benadryl at night to help me sleep.

PF wishes,

Jeannie

I've been taking both benadryl and melatonin for quite some time.

And the english word is 'tic.'

Thank you Jeannie.  Ever since I started my CH cycle, I have not been able to sleep the whole night through.  I nip the nocternal CH with Mel, but I still wake up very easily through out the night.  I will give Benadryl a try.

Mucho thank you!

I think i have figured out why i wake up at night thinking im gonna get hit.
Im not sure but i think i get one single spike during my sleep, and thats why i wake up.

I find this very odd cause this hasnt occurred after any of my former cycles. But as many of u say: the beast develop.

I seem to wake up and then get a hard shadow. To me that's time to get dressed...again... and go get 02 started. The faster I go, the shorter the Ch lasts. If I get lazy, I take more hit and harder for it.

Often times i can't fall back to sleep, or if i do I don't sleep well. I am not sure if feel like I am not sleeping when I am or not.

During my cycle I tend to dream in color vividly, and out of cycle i would say I don't dream at all.

As to the beast, I find what ever pattern it does set up will change. It makes for a nice little surprize.

One cycle began with getting hit around dinner time or close after, with other hits later in the evening.. I got used to that and was able to get 02 with ease, so the beast moved the time to much later in night.

This cycle has been after mid night, and so I stay up till around 2AM, sometimes 4 AM. This is in the attempt to be awake and more alert, so I can get 02 faster.

At this point I am getting beat down from lack of sleep, and confused about decision making in day time work. Just the way it is. It makes diagnositics much harder to think about.

I am also experiencing a lot of eye twitches on the afflicted side of my face this time around. I don't remember it being that bad any other time. I sure am glad some spoke up about dreams being more vivid, more in volume and some more like nightmeres than dreams. Thought it was just me. I also sleep so lightly. Always waking up. I sit up fast thinking I have to get to the o2 as quickly as humanly possible in a sleepy stuper only to realize I feel fine. Just a natural reaction. How annoying that gets after so many nights of "false alarms".

Grandma always said "this too shall pass". But then again she didn't have ch so she didn't think to say "this too shall come again (and again) at the most inconvenient times".
