Chronic to Episodic????
Dec 15th, 2009 at 3:56am

Hi there,

I have been chronic with not more than a day or two break for two years...With four-five kip 8's a week...For the past month or so I have only had very light and brief CH attacks.

Neither Dopamax or verapamil work for me so I went off of it months ago. But I did start Kudzu and 6mg of melatonin at night a month and a half ago. I ran out of Kudzu weeks ago and still seem to be doing really well with just the melatonin. I went from 6-8 injections a week to none. They are light enough to handle and only last 15 minutes or so. And I have also gone three or 5 days without any CH's at all...

Have any other chronic CH sufferers had this happen to them? I have never had a remission like this ever....The whole two years have been really bad..

You didn't mention o2, so I was wondering if you ever tried that?

Congrats on some PF time.  That's awesome news.

The definition of Chronic is "no pain free remission of four weeks for one year".  So technically you're not Episodic until you've gone four weeks without an attack.

Having said that, people do go through high and low cycles and between episodic and chronic.

My advise: don't look too closely at it.  Just enjoy the PF time Wink

Where there is life, there is hope.
Where there is Oxygen, you must use proper caution.
So be safe, don't smoke while using O2. Kill the pain and not yourself.

I was chronic for about 10 years then went episodic about 15 years ago and have been ever since.  Never was able to put my finger on a cause.  Enjoy it while you can.

I haven't tried it yet and only because I was getting a lot of day attacks and it would hard to use it. If it goes back to 4-5 attacks a day including night atttacks I will. The truth is and I don't want to jinx myself...I have been doing really well and don't need it right now. But you know how this thing goes it could change tomorrow. I have never had a break for more than a day. Now when I get them they are a kip 2 maybe and are very quick.

Oh believe me I am enjoying this time and making the most of it. I didn't realize you can go back and forth between the two. Thanks for the info!

I am not chronic, and just was wondering about o2 with someone who was... I feel for you chronics.. I get pretty tapped out in 8 to 12 weeks, and have no idea what a year after year is like..

Since you are PF for the time, don't even think about ch much.. Just go live life.

I was chronic until I started dosing with rc seeds.  Now, I only get the occasional random hit, never over a kip 6-7 that 02 knocks out in less than 5 minutes.

Love my 02 Smiley
