"THANKS FOR THE DUST"
Apr 16th, 2010 at 7:30pm

"But what we really wanted was money " a comment made to Iceland by a BBC Radio 2 listener . Smiley

with all air traffic over the UK grounded for the last 36 hours because of dust and ash from a volcano in Iceland
it's really weird going out side and seeing nothing but stars and maybe the odd satellite in the night sky.

as where i live is situated on the Maine flight paths for stansted , heathrow and gatwick airports , looking in to the night sky will normally reveal 6 or 7 sets of flashing lights from plains but last night and tonight  nothing , It's just weird.

and now i need to wash my car cos it's covered in black dust
.... Thanks Iceland.

I'm sure it was done intentionally. You know how nasty those Icelanders can be....

I agree with Brew, this seems to be intentional by the Icelanders, Have you heard Bjork's music. Also, they have a large bear population, and we all know how bears can be. Yogi and Booboo types from jellystone, always up to something that leads to trouble, it starts with pici-nik  baskets and this time lead to volcanic ash. What was that Ranger's name?

How are your sunsets over there?  The year after Krakatoa blew, English painter William Ashcroft captured a series of spectacular red sunsets and colorful skies, called Chelsea sunsets in 1884.  Don't know if the same effect will happen.

Saw a couple of light air craft today and a couple of para-gliders but that's it , it is nice and quiet.

They are saying UK flights are now grounded at least until 7pm tomorrow   but it could go on for weeks !

I've just had a bonfire in the hope some of my smoke and ash will go to Iceland in return  Wink

What most people don't know if that there are hundreds of millions of Icelanders living UNDER Iceland waiting for the right time to release there volcanic weapons, emerge from their underground shelters and CONQUER THE WORLD!  Their first experiment was Pompei and now that the nuclear powers are disarming, they are ready to strike! Once the dust gets bad enough and our planes and missles are useless, don't be suprised if some guys dressed in animal skins and carrying swords and sprears and axes-and speaking some incomprhensible language, WATCH OUT!  NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO DISTRIBUTE WEAPONS AND SUNLAMPS TO ALL AMERICANS SO THAT WE'LL AT LEAST HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE TO SURVIVE (OR MOVE TO THE SOUTH)! Cry

Yes I don't welcome the prospect of speaking a language that sounds like a walrus in a liquidiser or having bjork singing the national anthem. Mind you racing skidoos over lakes looks like fun !
