A year on with the beast
Jul 5th, 2010 at 2:52am

So in a few days my first cycle will be at its year date. I guess I never thought I would have them for this long, maybe a few weeks months, but not this long and they're still going (with the other headaches  and problems on top).

So anyway, I have decided that I am going to celebrate by having a little party and making cakes to make myself (and my better half) feel good and not feel too depressed. Although this is better said than done I have found my mood change quite rapidly after a CH!

I found the support of this board incredible, so thank you all Smiley I'm more of a lurker but I do try and post when I can.

Wishing everyone PFDAN x

Well at the 1 year date you can officially stop calling yourself an episodic.......and join the ranks of the few, the proud, the chronic! Wink 32 years and I'm still an episodic. The chronics tell me they have it better cuz they know what to expect day to day, they don't get suprised by a new cycle!

Wishing you a break soon...LOVE your attitude.

I am lucky to get one day off from being battered by the beast.  Yes I know what to expect every day as Joe said but, it would be nice to have a few weeks, months or even years off from waging war with the beast.  Ahh I remember a relatively pf life before the ugliness of CH interrupted my life.  After 10 + years I refuse to give up the fight though.

I hope you are not chronic and get a break soon Emma as the day to day battle with the beast can take the steam out of a person quick.  In any case if you keep a good sense of humor, your chin up and enjoy those pain free times, you'll have no problem keeping up the fight against the beast!

Good for you, Emma!

You can make your cake bean shaped and label it 'hypothalamus' - then you can choose to smash or eat it!  Or, of course, you can smash it THEN eat it...

Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear... 'The Terminator' AKA CH

Now now Lettucehead...smashing cake I have spend hours making?! Hmmm...on the other hand that doesn't sound like such a bad idea. LOL.

Thanks Ginger and Joe Smiley I wish I wasn't chronic but there are worse things to have. My dad has MS and gets worse by the week and my grandfather cancer which breaks my heart and so I am strong for them.

I am being investigated now (as of yesterday after posting this) for another headache, because I don't respond to triptans (or they make my HA attacks both CH and migraines worse) even though I do respond to Oxygen. It's a long road, but we'll get there Smiley

Mmmm can't wait for my cake, I'll have to post a picture...lol!

Hey there, Joe. Yeah, I'm not taken by surprise but I sure do hate having to scope out every location I'm in, looking for the quickest exit, finding the right parking spot so I can get back to my car and suffer in solitude. Oh well, nature of the beast. May you, and we all, be pain free soon! Blessings! lance
