Unusual Episode

I have had clusters, episodal, for about 30 years.  O2 and Imitrex are my crutches.  A new episode started last Wednesday and fortunately I had an Imitrex available.  Went to Doctor next day and got presciption filled and ordered and received a new bottle of O2.  Was really worried about the meds as plans to go camping over Labor Day weekend.  Had HA again Thursday and Friday.  Got up Saturday and we headed out of town to camp, fingers crossed it wouldn't be too bad.  I DID NOT have a HA the whole time camping! Returned home Monday evening and had two HA's Monday night and have had one today.  This has never happened to me in an episode like this.  Am I destined to live in a tent?  Huh  Just thought I would share.  Don

If that worked I'd be outside in 30 seconds pitching our tent on the lawn!

At least it worked for you when you needed it to as it's hardly the best place to have a CH.

That's the wonder of episodic clusters. Ya never know when...but ya know it might. Just keep a diary of when, and where, and what you did before the hit and you might identify some new triggers. Glad your camping went well! Blessings. lance

Welcome to the board! I've been creamed enough times camping to know it's not a good prevent for me! And speaking of prevents....(slick segway huh! Grin)...have you ever tried any? A med you take daily while on cycle to reduce the hits, Verapamil, lithium, topomax? I use lithium at 1200 mg a day it'll block 60-70% of my hits.

Glad you checked in with us, hoping you catch a short cycle this go round.

Unfortunately, it was probably a coincidence.

I suppose it's possible that a change in physical routine might have some influence on getting hit...hiking, swimming, etc.  Hasn't ever made much difference to me, but others report that increased exercise can influence the number of hits they get during a cycle.  Some get fewer hits, others get more.

I've gotten nailed while camping  a few times.  It's not so bad when you're by yourself, except there's no room to pace in a tent.  Inevitably, you end up outdoors, stumbling around and frightening the chipmunks.  It's dark out there, so you need to exercise a bit of caution, lest you fall on a porcupine or pitch headlong into a ravine.

About a year ago, I was staying with my family in a small cabin up in the Salmon River country when I got hit.  I stubbed my foot against something at some point, but it was no big deal.  In the morning, I noticed that I had broken my toe.  Didn't even feel it at the time.

Be careful out there.

Best wishes,

George
