Total loss of memory before episode

Anyone else have this? I've been visiting this website for years - more than 10? As my husband has hereditary cluster headaches on the male side of the family.

He had 1 year of NO CH. Typically his sessions are in Feb. They started in Nov this year.

Last night he went to the woods on our property. Came back, talked to the maintenance man (we own a small lodging rental place), then commenced yelling and screaming about random things for the next 3 hours.

We could get him calmed down for a few minutes, but mostly seconds and then the yelling and screaming would start again - a rage is exactly what is was.

He then ordered our 13 year old daughter outside with him to shut off water in the well pit.

Daughter came up reported that he was in the driveway, rolling around and screaming in pain.

Having NO insurance and therefore no Imitrex, we borrowed some pain meds and gave him those.

He then had a fit of freezing chills (this to me signifies that the CH is ending). Not so this time. He shivered under a blanket in front of the wood stove for some time.

When he laid down asleep on the floor, I went to bed - this at 11 last night.

He slept, periodically getting up to pace. He got up at about 3 p.m. today.

He has NO recollection of the events of yesterday after he went to the woods to hunt. He remembers being in the woods. He remembers being in the well pit. He remembers 0 of anything else.

He tells me he was up all night, throwing up the ice water that he was drinking as that is what he was craving.

Any help/suggestions/comments? After dealing with my hubby and his CH for almost 20 years, this is unique and really concerns us.

That's not a typical reaction to a CH. I would be concerned with any kind of "sudden onset" issues like that. Since he's not seeing a doctor and is relying on others' meds, there is a possibility the combo of meds he's taking caused the fit. Of deeper concern would be an underlying condition the CH is "masking"....really needs a doc to take a look into that.

I believe they HAVE to take him and treat him there and you can work out $$ later.

As far as not being able to remember some of the previous day, it is POSSIBLE that it could be a symptom of severe sleep deprivation due to CH. But he really should see somebody.

Not sure if this is common or possibly due to other reasons, but I've come to find it's hard to retain information (band names, events I've attended...like, I KNOW I went to them, but the bulk of what transpired is foggy in recollection later on, or movies I've watched, etc) and I've now attributed this to the constant pounding my Head's taken over the years.

I've never "blacked out", or failed to remember SIGNIFICANT occurrences...but, considering my dealings, I'd venture to say it's possible this could be attributed to CH.

Just my take so don't treat it as the gospel. But considering the circumstances and chance it could lead to harm, getting it checked seems greatly beneficial regardless of the state of his insurance.
