Cool, huh? I carry the mini-Monsters around with me to use when I'm out. Doesn't seem to work quite as well as the large cans of carbonated juice, but it does work. Problem is most of the stores around here have stopped selling it. Trying the mini-RedBulls now. Should be the same. Congratulations on your epiphany! lance

I carry a 5hr Energy in by pocket at all times.  It is small enough to be able to do that, and small enough it doesn't have to be cold to drink it.  I just pour it to the back of my mouth and swallow without tasting much.

How many Red Bulls do you usually need to take for them to have any effect?
I've tried it today (again after a few years), drinking one 8oz Red Bull just before the attack, but I haven't noticed much of a difference.
Is it possible to use RB as a preventive if you drink it, let's say, half an hour before a projected attack?

If it is going to help, one will do it.... I think.   Did you slam it as fast as you could?

Yes, I did; I think it might have had lowered the pain for a couple of minutes but after that it was misery as usual. It didn't shorten the attack either.

Using it before the hit doesn't do much good.  At least it never has for me.  I have to wait until the attack begins, usually about the K4 level then slam it down fast.  It won't always knock out a bad hit, especially if the hit already has a good hold on me, but will usually knock a K8 down to a K3-4.  I can live with that.

I imagine you could be getting a rebound, but for me a caffeine rebound is a lot different than a cluster.  I can deal with a rebound with aspirin and move on.  I love an ice-cold Red Bull at the first sign of a hit.

Not sure the melatonin mixes well with Red Bull. But...if you aren't on a conflicting med (like Verapamil) the ads indicate one should drink no more than 3/day. lance

I've never read of any contraindications regarding energy drinks and melatonin.

That doesn't mean there aren't any - just that I haven't read any.

right now im getting hit every 2-2 1/2 hrs like clock work. im taking 15mg of melatonin and drinking monster. doctors where i am currently living know nothing about CH. when i go and try and explain whats going on they say im "drug seeking'. i tell them that i DON'T want narcotics and they still think i do. shit, i asked one to give me a dose pack or some decadron and he told me he wasnt gonna Rx that for me. im in a recovery town. which is making this harder to get the proper medical atention. im going crazy!!!and to top it all off my job is getting affected by this. i get hit at work and ive got to go stand in the walk-in freezer thats 5 degrese for 15 min. and the funny thing is im not cold til the hit is over. i know its coming to an end cuz i get chills all over my body. thanks for all yalls help and advice.

Should i be drinking other drinks than monster? i I should have another 4 weeks of this cycle if it follows the pattern of the past 5 years. and the monsters are 16 oz. should i just be drinking 8oz instead of the whole thing? Im Tryn to beat this without using narcotics. Im a heroin addict and its very hard for me to go through this without taking anything. Im almost at my end at this point. can't eat, can't sleep, its just getting rough.

I'd say drink the whole thing. A little extra caffeine/taurine isn't going to hurt. I always slam a 16-oz NOS when I'm in need.
