Verapamil and weight gain
Jan 21st, 2011 at 3:59pm

Just a quick question...

Is verap associated with weight gain, there's no mention on the information leaflet that comes in the pack?

If it isn't I'll just have to stop eating......cake! Cry

Hi Suzie,

I have recently decided to give up  Verap, after being on it for more than a year, and try only an alternative method to treat my CH.  (I had been using a combination of the two.) I have lost 9 lbs since I stopped taking it.   I feel certain that the Verap was a contributor to me hanging on to the weight.

It certainly has its share of side effects.  I first lost a bit of weight, then gained some.  Light-headedness and I passed out a lot too.  Killed the headaches quick though; a high dose breaks the cycle for me.

I'd trade a few pounds for being PF any and every day.

Hi and thanks for your replies

I agree a few pounds is a small trade off to a PF existence!

I have mentioned in a couple of my posts that I have only recently been diagnosed (Jan 2010)  despite many many years of battling the dreaded beast, and following a medication holiday started the verap in July 2010, hadn't really noticed the weight going on until after Christmas and I have tried my usual healthy eating and increased exercise plan but I cant shift the weight  Sad
at least if its a side effect I can accept that and its not the start of the middle age spread!!!! Shocked
