You won't believe what my dr. told me.

Or i don't know, maybe you will.  Tuesday, I was hurting so bad.  The propandol is doing nothing it seems to keep the hits from coming.  When I got there, I had a kip 7, and we talked about the pain, where it was at etc.  I told her i had found a website that is specifically for people who suffered from Cluster headaches.  She then proceeded to tell me that cluster headaches were a misnomer that they were actually "complex migraines".  When i asked her about the O2, she said that she hadn't had much luck with it in treating cluster headaches, but that she would let me try it if i wanted.  I told her the info about the flow rate and that I would like a tank because the concentrators didn't work as well.  She just about had a cow.  She told me that oxygen was oxygen.  She also wouldn't write an order for a mask, that a nasal cannula was all she would write an order for.  It was at that point that I asked her to send me to the Headache clinic in Knoxville.  She agreed i think just to get me to shut up.  So i left with no change of medicine and still in pain.  <sigh>.  Sorry about the rant, but for petes sake, why can't dr's understand?

How comforting to learn that I've been wrestling with a misnomer for forty years.   Roll Eyes

Better luck with the new doc.

Best,

George

Sometimes it's easier to just move onto a new doctor than to try to bring a doctor who doesn't want to listen up to date with research from the last 30 years or so.

At least you've got your referral.

Lol George...I know, isn't it?  And your right mike.  She said she was making my referral High Priority.  I think she's tired of fooling with me.

I actually broke down in front of my old gp.
i was actually crying my heart out (im a big strapping bloke) but i was at my witts end ..

do you know what she did ??

....

she told me that i was just a drug seeker and to grow up  Cheesy

i refused to leave her office and she eventually got rid of me by doing a referral to a neurologist.

THE BEST THING THAT EVER EVER HAPPENED TO ME.

Luckily for me the neuro turned out to be Dr Silver who specialises in clusters and works closely with prof goadsby.

The next time i cried in a doctors surgery was at my first meeting with dr silver but this time they were tears of happiness at someone telling me what was wrong with me and that there were medications we could use.

My eyes just welled up remembering how good that felt.

So forget that stupid backwards woman who doesnt deserve to be practicing medicine .. its onwards and upwards form here xxxxxxxx

Thinking consentrators and a nasal cannula, explains her bad luck, and yours.

My dr seems to get her feelings hurt if i ask for a referral to a specialist, but she is just going to have to get over it.

Congrat to yourself, you got her over it.    Smiley

Take the scrip! It was easy for me to find a regulator and mask once i had the scrip, and it's the only thing that works for me. Your doctor can go screw him/herself. You don't need her help or permission to get rid of the pain. The demon doesn't play by the rules and you don't have to either.

I just went to a medical supply store for the high flow regulator (they had to order it, but it only took a day and cost $15) and I ordered the mask from this site.

You are fighting a war. Arm yourself well or it can be devastating. Fortunately we are your comrades in this fight!

Stay strong!
