A work meeting with a difference
Jul 5th, 2011 at 2:58am

I was at work this afternoon with a few shadows, so I wasn't quite in top form, then sat in a meeting with a few others I had an ice pick headache to make it a bit more fun (I get them from time to time). However this time it felt a bit different as I seemed to be a bit dizzy, thinking the room was swaying a bit.

Seconds later, I realized that it wasn't me thinking the room was swaying, as the whole building was swaying for about 30 seconds quite strongly with an earthquake. My thoughts were then hoping that it wasn't one centred near Christchurch (about 200 miles away) as that would be a huge one.

It turned out to be a 6.5 centred about 190 miles away in the centre of the North Island (Taupo), although being about 90 miles deep resulted in there being no reports of damage however it was felt over 400 miles from the epicentre.

Surprisingly my shadows vanished just about instantly after this, so is this a new abortive?

I have notice that adrenaline acted as an abortive for me after a terrible car accident that we were almost involved in and wittnessed.  They had to use the jaws of life to get the couple out and there were serious injuries.  The car was stoped to turn left and a drunk driver rear ended them doing 65 not noticing the car at all.  The impact happened as we were beside them driving the opposite way.  My ch dissapeared instantly as we stopped to render aid.

OMG, Mike. I've never had the pleasure of living through an earthquake, nor do I have it high on my list of things to do before I die. I'm glad you only had a CH abort as a result, and for the good people of NZ. Adrenalin, huh? Don't know. It does seem to me when I'm moderately active throughout the day, I have a better experience than when I go in spurts with activity and rest alternating. Might be something in it. PM Bob to see if there's been any research in that area? Glad you're OK. God bless. lance

Glad you're all right Mike.

I think that sudden, even just unexpected things have an effect on CH. I believe there's some evidence here that something requiring immediate attention has an effect on circulation which I believe does the trick. I think it's why strenuous exercise can help.

I don't propose moving to earthquake areas or hanging around war zones as a way of dealing with CH though.  Roll Eyes

Can't say I'd like to experience anything bigger than the 2 little wee baby quakes I've felt so far in life - but I do believe there's something to the fight/flight/freeze response that promptly sends the beast a packing.  In my case, it wasn't a danger/risk to myself, but an event involving my child that required me to act promptly and with absolute efficiency, accuracy and detail - as well as a strong desire (that's about as accurate as calling a lion a domestic kitten) for vengeance in ways I didn't think I could imagine in my worst nightmare.

It would seem logical then, to hypothesize, that any major chemical change within the brain, will result in a shift of the character and nature of CH (be it single attack or multiple over a period of time).

Not sure that one would make for a good research/study trial however Wink

I've twice had entire cycles wiped out by the sudden onset of severe stress: once when I was busy being shot at, then again when my dear father passed away suddenly.

In all honesty I can't reccommend either as a cure.
