Aug 10th, 2011 at 9:05am

Hi all,

I do not have stuffy nose but have all other symptoms for cluster headache. Is this case with someone else?
Just crossed my mind.

Thanks,
Satbir

From the IHS diagnostic criteria for CH:

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Quote:
Diagnostic criteria:

At least 5 attacks fulfilling criteria B-D
Severe or very severe unilateral orbital, supraorbital and/or temporal pain lasting 15-180 minutes if untreated
Headache is accompanied by at least one of the following:
        ipsilateral conjunctival injection and/or lacrimation
        ipsilateral nasal congestion and/or rhinorrhoea
        ipsilateral eyelid oedema
        ipsilateral forehead and facial sweating
        ipsilateral miosis and/or ptosis
a sense of restlessness or agitation
Attacks have a frequency from one every other day to 8 per day
    Not attributed to another disorder

You do not need to have all the symptoms.

Have you been diagnosed by a neurologist who specializes in headaches?

CH is so unique to the individual, the absence of one or more "standard" symptoms does not by itself eliminate a CH diagnosis.

If you have the option, work with a Headache Specialist Neurologist. There are hundreds of headache types, many of which mimic a lot of the CH symptoms. Working with a specialist will give you the best shot at an accurate diagnosis and an effective treatment regimen. Good luck! Wink

Thank you everyone, i have been to few neurologists but never to a headache specialist. But my understanding from ch.com tells me its CH. Still get it confirmed by headache specialist.
