New med...
Nov 24th, 2011 at 8:59am

As most of you know, I've been on  Topamax since 99 and have proclaimed it my miracle med (and it has been).

But I didn't read the 20 pages of side effects - I always took it at night and said I didn't have any of them. Seems I was wrong.

One of the side effects is MOOD SWINGS - it can turn a NICE person into a vicious Witch without notice (apparently it did this to my neuro's wife and HE read this in the side effects).

So if I've offended anyone since '99 - It wasn't really ME - it was my MEDICATION!  Roll Eyes I'm really a nice person. And he also told me that the person doesn't even realize that it's changing their personality.

So, all in all, it has kept the headaches under control, but made me into a mean person (some of the time).

So my neuro decided to put me on a new med yesterday (and he called it in and I'm sorry - I didn't write down the name - it's something like "sonogran" or something like that). It's supposed to be about the same thing as topamax, BUT without ANY of the side effects. But he assured me that it will work the same and that I will become little Miss Sunshine in no time at all (as soon as the topamax gets out of my system).

But this change in me is going to be different and I've been thinking this over... ummmmm.... don't know if I'm ready for this -- I'll have to start saying NICE things about Bob P and not wise-cracking to Linda H and, well, it's just going to be mind boggleing..  Tongue

But I guess I'll survive - after all I have CH and we can survive anything - right? Undecided

Ya'll have a Happy Thanksgiving now ya hear... Luv ya  Kiss

Just picked up my Suzie Sunshine med and it's Zonegran 100mg 1 morning and 1 night for a week and then 2 morning and night.

Has anyone ever noticed what beautiful eyes Linda H has?   Smiley (See it's already working...) Kiss

How long before it is estimated to become effective?

Please post updates.

PS...I've never met her face to face, so don't know about her eyes; but I know how much of a caring woman Linda is Wink

Good luck with that Barb. I took it once but can't remember if it helped, I'm still taking Topamax.

So far the only thing I can see is that I can't take it in the daytime - it makes me drowsy (but an aspirin does that), so I guess I'll be taking the whole dose at night (like I did the topamax - never could take split doses of that either).

My daughter-in-law is still worried about weight loss effects, but the topamax has that side effect and I'm not underweight so I'll worry about that another time.

Hopefully it will improve my memory (get rid of the short term memory loss - hope hope). We'll see in a week or so.. Kiss

You love lots of things if you live around them. But there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, that’s as lovely as a great airplane. If it's a beautiful fighter, your heart will be ever there
