Hi JHKO7 This is one of your post I came across

I wonder if that Trig nerve thingy got squished at birth as I was being yanked out?  I have two bald spots on my head. One worse than the other.  Mom always said it was from the forceps. Luckily, I have lots of hair so bald spots are no biggie.  The cluster side is the bad bald spot side, and pretty much the "spot" for the pain.  Unless it's a bad one, and it moves to eye, jaw...neck... you know the drill.

Brachial Plexus Birth Palsy affect 1-2  per 1000

(CH affects about 1 per 1000)

Maybe before any one answers the Brachial Plexus injury they should ask there Mum if you where a easy birth. Brachial Plexus injury are common in cesarean section to.

That was an excitant idea giving up the caffein to. Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register MANY THANKS for taking the time ALL THE BEST TO YOU

I know I wasn't born with it mine came with the RSI injury to my shoulders I would never had know if I didn't have the nerve study do, In say this I should have worked it out as when I turn my head one way its tie that is the side I get CH on, Out of cycle turning that way for to long it can give me a headache in the eye. I find this very interesting, and have suspicions of nerve injury effecting or causing my CH. I recently learned of "trigger Points" aka muscle knots, which I've had probably as long as CH.
One thing I read is that trigger points have 'referred pain', meaning the Trigger point will cause pain elsewhere, usually along a nerve path. I was shocked to see that Trigger Points in the Trapezius muscle area cause pain from the neck around the head, above the ear and end in the corner of the eye. The exact route as the trigeminal nerve and the common area of CH pain. Coincidence? possibly, but interesting non-the-less.

A lot of people can associate trauma with an onset of CH, usually head trauma. I would think its rare to have head trauma and no neck trauma along with it. I know everytime my heads taken a knock, my neck takes a crank.

Here's a medical Journal on the issue of Trigger Points and CH specifically
Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register
Excerpt
Abstract
Active myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) have been found to contribute to chronic tension-type headache and migraine. The purpose of this case series was to examine if active trigger points (TrPs) provoking cluster-type referred pain could be found in cluster headache patients and, if so, to evaluate the effectiveness of active TrPs anaesthetic injections both in the acute and preventive headache's treatment. Twelve patients, 4 experiencing episodic and 8 chronic cluster headache, were studied. TrPs were found in all of them.

Here's a good site on Trigger points

Why muscle knots matter so much
Trigger points matter. Aches and pains are an extremely common medical problem,10 and trigger points and myofascial pain syndrome are the most common undiagnosed source. They are a key factor in headaches, probably including migraine and cluster headaches as well,1112 neck pain and low back pain,1314 and (much) more. What makes trigger points clinically important — and fascinating — is their triple threat. They can:

    1 cause pain problems,
    2 complicate pain problems, and
    3 mimic other pain problems.

I grabbed a couple Ebooks on Trigger Points, if you would like them PM me with your email address and I'll send you copies.

Hi Playdon, Glad I could help you.

I would like to warn you and other that doing self trigger point therapy to the muscles of the neck can be very dangers as there is a main artery tucked away in there push to hard on this artery it can claps not good for you, The neck is best left to an expert mate.I have read a lot about trigger points and I would never play with these 2 neck muscles. Ever where ells is ok just read all you can on trigger point therapy first before you try and do it.

Trigger point therapy has work on me stopping one of my cycles 2 years ago working on the neck & back muscles Iv never taken heavy meds for my CH (only 2 tablets 12 years ago) and I was drinking my water. In say this I was dehydrated at the time, 3 sessions over 1 week cycle stopped.I keep drinking lots of water for about 4 weeks then went back to my old habits silly me.

The muscles around this artery maybe some of the trouble with CH in my opinion if these muscles are tyet they are more then likely stopping some of the blood flow its no wonder the blood want to come out the eye or build up behind the eye it has to go some there. To add to this the Brachial Plexus nerves are mixed in with these muscle if some of them aren't getting the blood flow around them that they need they aren't going to be happy at all. In my opinion this is why oxygen works as it gives the muscles more oxygen making the muscle relax.

Now you are on the right track you need to know that trigger point therapy will only help you so much.I would say ?? % As you read more on trigger points you will see that the meds that you take are also part of your troubles (this is where rebound headaches come from) I would think they had you on a lot of meds after your neck injury. You will also see that one injured muscle on one side of your body can affect the hole side of your body over a period of time. For trigger point therapy to work (better) you need to be well hydrated and of the meds  (Well hydrated can take up to one month )Also if you are dehydrated on meds and have a bad diet your hormones will not be working as they should.

Have you ever googled what effect does my Medication have on my hormones

Hormones, dehydration, toxins and (metabolic wast in your muscles ) play a part with CH if your hormones aren't right your body want work as it should if you are dehydrated your hormones want work as they should and if your hormone are not working as they should the hypothalamus can't work as it should if you are dehydration you will have to much toxins in your body if you have to much toxins in your body your hormones want works as they should if you have to much metabolic wast in your muscles they want work as they should.

Forgive my ignorance but I have always thought that when a Poll is run the person giving an answer was allowed the opportunity to say YES or NO, your poll only allows those who have these conditions to give an answer, I'd suggest that one % have given you the answer, the other 99% who would have ticked a NO box weren't able to as it simply wasn't there.

Do you have a brachial plexus injures
NO
Do you have Thoracic outlet syndrome
NO
Do you have carpal tunnel syndrome
NO
Have you had a Nerve conduction studies done
NO
Is one leg shorter
Of course
Do you have lower back pain
Anyone my age has.
Do you have leg pain NO
Do you get neck pain
Yes when I sleep wrong.

Hi Barry I was wondering when you would say hi,Im sorry but I only had 10 spots so that is why the option isn't there. I'll keep this in mind next time I do a poll. Many thanks for your input.

I see you said no to the brachial plexus injury and no the the nerve study so you don't know if you have some type of brachial plexus injury, I wouldn't have known either if I didn't have the nerve study done. You say you have a sore back what have you had longer CH or the bad back.

If you would just look at my opinion instead of trying to find holes you will see that at the end of the day Metabolic wastes build up is a big part of why we get CH along with dehydration and hormones.

Why do you think smoking isn't good for CH it robs the body of oxygen for one.
Why do you think the oxygen works so well Here is one reason it helps with the removal of wast,

Why do you think vitamins help. Here is one reason
Nutrient exchange is a continuous cycle, constantly supplying the body with oxygen and nutrients while removing carbon dioxide and metabolic waste.Nutrient delivery to the tissues this allows for efficient removal of metabolic waste from the muscles.

I see you are still having trouble finding out why Taurine helps.

Here is one reason Taurine help with liver detoxification, by flushing out metabolic waste from the liver.

Warning to others please see your Dr before you taking taurine.

I know you know that the meds that people taking are not  good for you in the long run and from what Iv read the more meds you take over time the worse CH gets the more metabolic waste the worse CH gets, No wonder the liver can only do so much, This is why I said drinking fresh lemon juices is good for you it helps the liver detox.
MANY THANKS

To other that read this If you have to take meds please drink more water and as soon as you are finished detox and find someone that does trigger point therapy with there hands. The other thing I would say is to google food to avoid with Cluster Headaches. TAKE CARE & ALL THE BEST

There is no credible scientific evidence nor an overwhelming number of anecdotal reports to support an opinion of "metabolic waste" causing Cluster Headaches in otherwise normal, healthy human beings.

There is no credible scientific evidence nor an overwhelming number of anecdotal reports to support an opinion that "trigger point therapy" will relieve the pain of Cluster Headaches.

You are of course entitled to any opinion you so desire to have. Keep in mind that the act of stating those opinions on a Internet message forum does not in and of it's self turn those opinions in to facts. Barry is entitled think to critically and respectfully point out any "holes" he may see in said opinions.

If the cause of CH were something as simple as metabolic waste then instead of CH being relatively rare, it would impact a large number of people.

It's the same with hormones. Yes there are some people with low testosterone who find that it is linked to their CH but at the same time there will be lots of people for whom it doesn't result in CH.

The same thing applies to dehydration, if that were the cause then huge numbers of people would have CH.

Taurine works well as it is a calcium channel antagonist, just like verapamil.

Do you have credible evidence that oxygen removes 'waste'? What sort of waste is it that oxygen removes and where is it located?

The pros and cons of polls.

The body is one of the most complicated mechanisms on the planet. I have enjoyed following many of the polls as it's "interesting" to see the things I do and do not  have in common with other CHr's.

That being said, you run into very dangerous territory when you start drawing conclusions based on incredibly simplistic polls. In my early days of CH, I "cured" my CH by:

I stopped using q-tips in the side of the attacks, within days the attacks stopped! Problem solved, let everyone know they need to stop using q-tips!......3 months later they came back.....This time I "cured" my CH by giving up all caffiene, within a few months they were gone! Put out the word, caffiene clearly causes CH!!!....yeah, they came back.

I do not intend with anything I say to muzzle the enthusiasm with exploring some of the CH issues we all share as a community. This is how we've discovered clusterbuster methods, oxygen, the anti-inflammatory regimen, and as a community I'm sure we'll continue to make significant discoveries in the future.

I just want everyone to remember that this in no way replaces scientific research. Bob Johnson has a fancier way of saying it, but coincidence is not always causative in nature. So please be careful with drawing conclusions from small bites of data, and extrapolating those conclusions out to sound like credible scientific theories. We run the chance of misguiding people when we do so.

Joe's humble 2 cents worth.
