Ch & having a baby
Aug 19th, 2012 at 6:37am

As some of you know, I'm a pregnant clusterhead. This baby almost arrived to this world way too soon, but now it strongly looks like that the labor will be induced instead.

I'm 41+1 weeks pregnant, gave up the only ch treatment I have left (omega3s) almost three weeks ago just in case there will be c-section or emergency c-section. Omega3s might increase blood loss, so I quit taking them as a precaution for now.

So far my head has been behaving, just a bit of shadowing after a bad night, that is all. I'm happy about that, but I am slightly worried about what happends in future.

Can the meds they use to induce the labor bring back ch? What about the pain relief during labor? What about right after?

Of course we are individuals and what happends to one does not happen to other, but I would love to hear about your experiences, clustermoms! Smiley How did it go? What happened? What's your advice to me?

Tomorrow I'll be meeting ob/gyn at the hospital for  the very first overdue check up. This might mean that labor will be induced, maybe not. We don't know for sure. The midwife who called me did advice me to bring my hospital bag with me, though, and said that I should be prepared that I might be staying at the hospital and the labor will be induced. We'll see.

I'm nervous and excited! Smiley

All the best & PF days to all,
Sanna & Little Rascal 41+1

I had induced labor with my 3rd and neither the pitocin nor the epidural triggered anything, nor did the c-section.  I've also had a spinal with my 2nd which didn't affect anything either.  I'm episodic and was never in cycle whilre pregnant, so take my experience for what it's worth.

Sanna & Little Rascal 41+1

The next morning...

Nurse  Ok little girl, we're all ready to see you.  How 'bout it, you want to meet us today?

Rascal  Nah I'm cool.  I'm gonna stick around in here awhile.  Don't you have a book to read or sumthin'?

Nurse  Now now, I think you're grown up enough to be big girl about this.

Rascal  Hey!  A girl's got to get ready, there's pictures to take, relatives to meet, kisses to give.  Ah what would you know, you wear your hair pulled back and a mask all day.

Nurse  We really want to be nice about this.

Rascal  Back off nursey girl, I got a gun in here.

Nurse  Oh you do not.
We're all here to cuddle and love you.

Rascal  That ain't sweetening the deal. I know I'm not crying in here, but I will when I see you.  I'm fine, go away!

Nurse  Your mommy has been carrying you all this time and now your parents have a nice place for you all ready.

Rascal  Is it pink, I like pink.  Is the cable hooked up?

Nurse  I might have a nice pink swaddling blankie waiting for you.

Rascal  Your words aren't even inducing the finger I'm gonna stick out.

Nurse  I bet your going to have golden locks and be so pretty.

Rascal  Yeah well it's blue and orange now, I've been working on it.

You want a peek, answer a riddle.  If you're inducing, well I'm already in.  Why isn't it called outducing to get me out?

Nurse  We're bringing you into the world.

Rascal  I know that.  This is Finland, I chose the nice warm summer to arrive.  I want some sunlight before I get my adorable rosy cheeks of winter.

Nurse And maybe a Christmas tree this season?

Rascal  Now you're talkin'.   Ok.  I'm gonna take a my last little nap here, undisturbed you hear, and then I'll think about it.  Have a diaper ready or you get the first handful.

Sandie, I can't speak to whether the pitocin will cause any CH issues as I'm the clusterhead and not Linda, but I would advise you to work with your medical team and get them to stop the pit drip once your contractions take hold and are progressing well on their own.  We had to induce our 4th, but our Dr worked with us and stopped the pit drip once the contractions go going, which made the contractions much easier to deal with.  For what it is worth, YMMV.  Looking forward to meeting Little Rascal.

So far, the Little Rascal is very determined to stay put.

Kevin, thank you for the laughs once again! Grin

Melissa, thank you. It is good to know that the meds did not trigger ch for you. Smiley

Thank you all for the words of encouragement. I was very nervous on Sunday, all excited & relaxed yesterday and little nervous again today.

The check up went nicely yesterday. Midwife checked my blood pressure and baby's heartbeat. The doc checked my situation (which has not changed at all within 10 weeks!) and scanned the baby. She is doing fine. Smiley And she, just like any rascal, moved so much that the doc needed extra time to be able to measure her! Grin That's my Little Rascal! Wink

Because we both are fine, I was given a new appointment. It's this Thursday morning. Then they will do a similar check up and then we will decide when I will be induced. There are two options: that very same Thursday, right after the check up, or next Monday. The will always induce the labor precisely at pregnancy week 42+2 at the latest.

I did check that my medical info does include the word "clusterheadache" and it does. I did ask both the midwife and doc related questions and I was assured that before they will give me any medication, the anesthesiologist will check my records and discuss the suitable options. And should ch return after labor, medical oxygen will be available. Smiley

So all I need to do is wait and see if the Little Rascal wants decide her birthday (and horoscope  Grin) on her own or if one will be decided for her.

Family and friends are already calling and texting us like crazy. My mother called 3 times yesterday alone! She is in a bigger hurry to become a grandmother than my daughter is a hurry to arrive! Grin My mother-in-law, cousin, uncle, godmother and two friends also called...My husband almost wanted to tell people that "oh yeah, our baby arrived already a week ago, we just did not tell anyone..." Grin

Well, let's see if something will happen before Thursday. Today we've invited people over, a new closet will be delivered and my husband decided to ride a bike to work (which takes him twice as much time), so the odds are that today something could happen... Wink

All the best & PF days to all,
Sanna & Little Rascal 41+3

The Little Rascal is here! And she is a girl... Smiley

I told her that if she wants to decide her own birthday, she needs to hurry. So, early Thursday morning, my water broke just hours away from the second overtime check up. We went to the check up, like planned, at 10am, and then my contractions came fast and furious. So, instead of sending us home or planning to induce the labor, I was sent to delivery room.

Things were proceeding fast at first, but then nothing happened for hours. I was just in pain with contractions every two minutes and dull pain in the middle, so no PF time whatsoever. I did receive gas and then epidural, which helped with the pain at first, but when the doctor decided to speed up the process with oxytocin drip and the pain increased, but the labor did not proceed. Finally, at 1.30am on Friday morning the doctor decided that it is time for a c-section.

Our precious Little Rascal arrived at 2.16 am and it was incredible to hear her voice for the very first time and see her. She has a lot dark hair already! I'm pretty sure that she stayed in longer to grow her hair... Wink

And because she is a little rascal, she did have a huge surprise for us: her size. Her height was 54 cms and her weight was 4505 grams, which makes her one kilogram heavier than the estimation I was given on just few days before her birth. The doctor did mention after the c-section that the baby was bigger than my body would have been able to give birth any other way...

Luckily for me, none of the meds I was given triggered ch. Smiley I do recall asking for a ch-friendly combo before the c-section...

Today we were able to bring our baby home. Smiley

Wishing everyone PF time,
Sanna & lovely, adorable & cute baby daughter

Anyone know how to convert that into pounds/ounces?

Brew, I think Sanna said babies are not named until they are Christened/baptised and not even Sannas mother is told until that time.

Wish there was a way all of us could pass that little one around for a quick cuddle with her.  Congratulations Mommy.

28 1/2 grams in an ounce.  I know this for some silly reason.

Thank you all. Smiley

Linda is right, we're planning to reveal her name at the Christening - and that includes the grandmothers, too. Wink BUT I must admit that we don't know her name yet, either. We do have a few names in mind, but we haven't decided if our 3 original picks will suit her yet. She doesn't "look" like any name yet. Grin Just a little beauty with lots of dark hair, adorable nose and lovely eyes. Smiley

And yes, she was a big baby. I did tell everyone that she likes her tiny flat way too much to get out.. Grin Now I'm beginning to understand all the looks I got from the strangers - apparently my tummy was a lot bigger than I realized myself. I thought my baby was the average size just like the doctors estimated prior to the birth. But the doc and the midwife who were present at the delivery room estimated her size more accurately.

About pictures... we do have taken plenty of pics and my mother wants us to send her some of them. But there is one big problem: we have not located that moving box where the camera's wire is, so for the time being I cannot send her any nor post any in here. But within time, folks, within time. Smiley
