Just got back to the USA from Spain, and...
Jan 12th, 2013 at 11:15pm

While I was in Spain for New Years I had dramatically fewer headaches.  So much so that I was mostly pain free.  I did have to pop a Tylenol a few times to knock out some low levels, but overall I had a much better time than I had been having the week (and years) before.  I'm chronic so it's not a coincidence of cycle.  I believe it's the food.  They eat meats over there that are salt-cured and not processed with hormones and chemicals.  Since I got back I have used nothing but olive oil for cooking and have been going to the expensive natural grocery store for imported cured meats with no chemicals.  Still very little pain.  A ghost here and there is it.  Amazing.  Is it my imagination?  Is it something where once again, I'll think it's a breakthrough and then whammo -it's back?  I don't know, but it's a huge boost for me for now.

I hope all stays well for you. We cook with nothing but olive oil and I have not noticed it makes any difference. I do know processed meats can sometimes be a problem for migraine sufferers but here too I haven't noticed a difference in my chronic patterns. If this holds for you it may be one more of those "it's worth a try" interventions. Let us know as time passes, and welcome home. blessings. lance

What Lance said! I've found that on cycle, I can reduce the number of hits by avoiding certain triggers, alcohol, sustained stress and sleep deprivation being three biggies for me. If I strictly avoid all of those, I can reduce the number of attacks. I'm something of a health/workout nut on and off cycle, it's never seemed to have a bearing, good or bad.

That being said, if you've stumbled onto somethng that's working, don't change a freaking thing. But at the same time, understand one of the most annoying traits of the beast is its ability to morph. Leaving you never sure if a lifestyle change is what's affecting beasty, or if he has just morphed again! Causation or coincidence, the CH'ers lifetime riddle! Grin

Wishing you a lifetime of painfree time.

Joe

How much time did you spend outside in the sun while in Spain?

Thanks everyone.  I realize from experience how morphing works, and I fear that.  I'm not even sure really that it's not a coincidence of timing and it's a temporary remission that would have happened anyway.  Since coming back, I still haven't had more than a few light occurrences that went away fast.

Batch, I can't say if my sun exposure was much more than usual, but I did walk outside a lot.  The food was a definite difference, and I know that something about eating has been a trigger for me.  I do generally feel better if I'm outside in the sun rather than inside, especially in the summer, if that's where you're going with that question.

Spot on Gary...

Skin + UV-B in Sunlight = Vitamin D3.

More vitamin D3 would be better.

Batch- do you take the D3 with the verapamil?  How about with melatonin?  I am a 47 year old woman. I've been in remission for 5 years.  My CH hit again 3 weeks ago. Never had them in the spring.  Always been a fall girl so I'm stumped. I knew they would be gone on Jan 4 (very predictable).
I have a new dr who is unfamiliar with my condition. I went from the famous Dr. Kudrow to Kaiser.
I'm willing to try methods I've never tried.
I'm getting 8 attacks in a 24 hour period. Every 90 minutes at night. I'm not sleeping. Please tell me more about d3. I live in sunny Los Angeles so I'm outside a lot. Sorry if I hijacked this post....

This is the Batch Regimen in a nut shell. Please read this thread and start it TODAY!!!
With the success rate for this regimen climbing past 80% it's the closest thing to the "C" word.....cure Wink....any of us have seen on this board. I'm 53, an episodic CH'er since my teens, I've been pain free for almost 3 years on this regimen. It's that good.
