strange thing happened
Jan 30th, 2013 at 6:32am

I was in the middle of my 3rd cluster headache session and the outside temps were in the teens and our furnace broke. for 4 days we had electric blankets and electric heaters barely keeping us warm. Yet I had no cluster headaches for 3 nights. the night after the furnace was repaired my cluster headaches came back?  did the cold chase them away?

Cause and effect...the never ending chase! For me, breathing in ice cold air through my nose will reduce the intensity of a hit. So is it the cold air? The fact that the colder air makes you sleep deeper? The increased humidity because the furnace wasn't drying the air out? Strictly coincidence? It's a tough search for answers. Cheesy

Hoping you catch some pain free time soon.

It might have done and then again it could be a coincidence. It's hard to tell from what is essentially a single data point.

You could try leaving the furnace off half the time and on half the time. Then compare how many CHs you get with it on / off. You'd need to do this for long enough, say a few months, to get something statistically significant.

And such a result only applies to you. You'd need lots of people to repeat it to get a result valid for lots of people.

I only got day time hits the first 20 years or so, the wake up hits came much later in life for me!

You could try turning the furnace down real LOW at night and maybe keeping the house COLD in the daytime and see what happens.

with me HEAT is a factor. Most of the time you could hang meat in my house. Smiley but I just can't handle heat when I'm getting hit real often. (I'm chronic and have high and low cycles).

I turn the a/c down to about 65 at night and keep it on about 70 in the daytime.

NOTE:  I do sleep in a nice warm heated bed with my head stuck out - as long as my head is cold I'm usually ok.

It works for me.  Kiss
