Fast-food advertising
Feb 1st, 2013 at 4:41am

Given the obesity epidemic sweeping the first-world, I've taken to watching  fast-food ads to see if I can spot just one person who is in any way overweight and should be avoiding such poison.

So far, not one.

They're all young, slim, trim, taut and terrific with lovely skin and smiles. Even the children gettting take-away  pizza as dinner, as they sit on the sofa watching TV, are shown as perfect examples of health without an ounce of fat upon them - as opposed to what we all see in the real world.

Is it the same in other countries?

Pretty much!

Totally the same here. Adverts are full of people looking good, in great shape and without a care in the world.

It's interesting to watch adverts for things like pain medication where the pain seems to be such a minor thing in an otherwise perfect world which is cured in seconds (as they can't have anyone not smiling in the adverts).

But the best ones are for household products where the amazing new product, be it a vacuum cleaner or a toilet cleaner, works just perfect and it changes horrible chores into amazing fun tasks.

Ain't that the truth. I worry for the woman who cuddles her dish-washer so rapturously, and the bloke that sleeps with his lawn mower rather than the missus.

How about the advertisements showing a lady with gray hair, old age wrinkles, warts and skin tags? The woman is all of 22 years old.

And the fatties that sprinkle their food with God-only-knows-what chemical and suddenly is 50 pounds lighter.

McDonald's is advertising McRibs in my area. Does anyone have any idea what the stuff is? It is the worst tasting skunk butt ever! It could help kids lose weight. They'd take one bite, gag, choke and spit it out.  McRibs would be a great cure for Chubby's appetite.

It works in the beer ads, too.  Haven't seen a bum or a falling down drunk on one yet.  Must use a different beer than we have around.

My excursions to McDonalds are usually for senior coffee. It's cheap for us, you see.....Sugar is the main ingredient of everything. Even McDonald's tossed salads have heaps of sugar added.

Toothpaste commercials never ever show toothpaste being used; just a perfectly clean dry brush going lightly over a mouth that's even had the saliva vacuumed out entirely!  I think people can handle seeing a little foam...not like we dont see it every time we BRUSH.

One thing is that there may be a hundred feet of perhaps a hundred different toothpastes displayed on a store shelf. So much prime space used. It's quite a tribute to marketing.

There's always baking soda.

I have to say yes, it's the same here in the our country. Fastfood restaurant models are all thin and slender, not exactly what happens to us in real life.
